Aw Wordsmith what can I say... perhpas your mistake is to shower the wee beastie with affection rather than abandoning it to play within the four legged fiends jaws or in the sink with the washing up or under the running tap. Bet hes just a late developer though as one minute we had an annoyingly purry ball of needle like claws and the next we had the randiest creature on the planet. Caught him trying to hump the laundry pile earlier and OHs shoes and the washing machine. In fact there sems to be no end to his creativity.
Meanwhile I've had to be quite creative myself after walking in to the North Walian version of the Spanish Inquisition who demanded to know what I'd said to yesterdays cleaner to make her phone up and quit first thing this morning much the the amusement of todays secretary who didn't even know she'd started.
Being an enterprising bloke the boss phoned up a few of the other applicants to see which, if any, had work permits. Have another unsuspecting victim starting tomorrow who will be worth it for the novelty factor even if shes a useless cleaner simply for having the balls to say to the boss "Your english not very good. You text me" before hanging up on him. Priceless.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Neugh. Its morning already. Feel like I've been run over by a stampeeding herd of zombies. Am beyond kettled and entering the realms of total exhaustion. Waited up for OH expecting his 7:30pm I'll be a bit late back phone call to mean 8:30 or perhaps 9. Flaked out on the sofa only to be rusely awoken sometime around 1am when his key clonked in the lock disturbing the hounds and transforming the littlest one into a ferocious barking guard dog complete with waggy tail. Four hours later the alarm went off and he was on his way back into work. Can only assume hes feeling considerably worse than I am.
The DDs had a fab time at last nights martial arts class. Got pulled onto one side by the instructor who had given out helpful pre-grading leaflets reminding people that the need official logo'd uniforms to attend which are available from him for a mere £39 each. Bargain. He'd spotted that the DDs are wearing non-logo'd gear, in DD2s case a karate top and a pair of aikido trousers which kept falling down (must learn how to tie better knots) as an attempt to get the size right before braving E-bay again. Turns out he has one of the old style uniforms in DD2s size which I can have for a tenner and better still his girlfriend is only marginally bigger than DD1 but has an old uniform which no longer fits post pregnancy and which DD1 can have for nowt. Happy days!
Didn't get any roofing done yesterday as it poured down all day long. Hoping for a marginally drier weekend although am not sure whan I'm going to fit it in. OHs friend is coming to stay tomorrow until the middle of the week and the DDs have friends over to play on Sunday for the morning.
Am yawning away.
Need to throw together a shopping list and brave the delights of Mr Ts to pick up essentials like bread and milk and garlic. Also need more marmalade in a tin and lots of sugar as well as the necessary components of chutney since I aquired a carrier bag of cooking apples and a box full of jars yesterday. Have promised the DDs that they can make marmalade when their friends are here.
Made a start on the housework by vacuuming yesterday and having a mini tidy up. Need to start changing beds today and cleaning bathrooms but am soooooo tired. Still needs must and all that.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Tesco is the most depressing place on the planet. Everyone is there today was glum and moaney. There were an abundance of offers but the prices had been hoiked up as much as 20% in places making stuff considerably more expensive to buy than it has been recently, even the whoopsied section was ridiculously overpriced, I mean who pays £1.20 for butter that goes out of date tomorrow? Did take advantage of every applicable offer and lots of reduced veg resulting in a heaving trolley and a £80 sized crater in my wallet. Utilised the 5p off a litre of fuel which made it a mere 3p cheaper than the neighbouring Mr As but still ended up with a £60 fuel bill. Meh. Its all doom and gloom.
Having a moaney day. Normal service will be resumed after a good nights sleep and a rather substantial lottery win.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

De-lurking to say, you're doing a fab job moo2moo and frankly your schedule makes me feel exhausted just reading it.
I was very cross when I filled up at Mr T's (without the 5p off) assuming that the fuel would be a decent price, only to see it was 2p per litre cheaper in Asda. How very very very annoying!!!!!!!!
And I hate supermarket shopping so much, I think I'm going to have to just stop doing it. Waitrose is the only supermarket that is in any way an enjoyable experience - Waitrose quality and customer service at Asda prices - now THAT would be a dream !0 -
I have stomach cramps from laughing, in fact I've done little but laugh all evening.
The saga of the cleaner continues. Cleaner #2 was expected around 3:30pm but since she was coming by bus and its a bit awkward to find we didn't think much of it when she was late but when she hadn't appeared by 4pm the boss started to get a bit concerned and phoned her to find out where she was. The response was most promising "I by big church" she says which is excellent because the only thing on the top of the hill other than the school is the big church and the boss tells her this. The rather odd response is "I no see you" which is most strange considering that all we can see is a big church, a few fields, the odd horse and several windswept sheep. Still, not one to be put off, the boss suggests she turns around and asks if she can now see school. Apparently she can now only see her telly since shes no longer looking at the big church opposite her house many miles away. It would be worth mentioning at this point that this conversation is being held in a roomful of people who are most definately evesdropping to the point that there was a huge sigh when the boss announced that she'd resigned without actually ever starting. The sigh was rapidly followed by a deluge of helpful recruitement suggestions ranging from a sparkly glittery poster worded "wanted cleaner, must do toilets and glitter, priority given to good looking hunky 20 something year old males, ability to clean not nescessary" - to dial-a-thai bride with a combined husband and job opportunity but the only single male teacher we have wasn't convinced. Things did get v. out of hand and ridiculous but the boss has agreed to hand over more cash temporarily as a peace offering until we get a replacement cleaner.
Have come home to a quiet house. The hound from hell is happily emptying the cat litter tray which is a job less to do later. Need to put clean sheets on the bed before collapsing into an aching heap. Also need a shower as I honk. All this rushing around is v. sweaty work. Might just attempt a quick jog on the Wii Fit but more tempting is the bottle of vino I treated myself to earlier safe in the knowledge that if OH is out for the evening I can quaff as much or as little as I like knowing that theres more in the bottle if I fancy it.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -

Sadly the nearest Waitrose is an hour and a half away so I have to content myself with Ocado who are most definately preferable to Mr T all apart from the delivery charges whic only seem to be affordable when I'm either out or asleep. Am trying to avoid supermarkets as much as possible but despite that am seeming to spend around £100 a week on supermarkety stuff which is way way more than I intend to spend. On the bright side should we be snowed in we could happily go for a month or two (three if we supplemented our diet with cat biscuits) without starving.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Its Saturday, I'm happy and I'm wide awake! Actually thats a bit of an understatement I feel spectacularly bouncy which is just as well considering how much stuff I need to get done today. Had all sorts of things planned to get done before riding lessons but rolled over and went back to sleep. In no particular order between now and the arrival of OHs friend and the destructive dog and its newly re-inforced cage I need to :
- Grab a shower and some breakfast and ensure the DDs do the same
- Kick DD1 out of her pit
- Threaten the DDs with anything and everything to guarantee their rooms are tidy by mid afternoon
- Supervise DD2 making and painting of a salt dough plate for homework
- Help DD1 write a 3 day diary entirely in Welsh - eek
- Make apple chutney to create some space in fridge
- Figure out where the heck to put the jars of chutney
- Bung a chicken in the oven to roast for dinner
- Wash up
- Tidy kitchen
- Deal with laundry mountain
- Change the DDs beds
- Do at least two loads of laundry
- Clean out all the fires
- Clean both bathrooms
- Remember to feed the DDs lunch or better still hope they feed themsleves and throw something together for me at the same time
- Poopascoop the lawn
- Chase up the roofer to find out what time hes appearing (obviously the answer will be whilst we're at riding lessons)
- Chase up tomorrows school friends to find out when they're coming
- Make cakes for lunch boxes whilst the ovens on
using the manky bananas - and if I have any time left at all (which is most unlikely) take some photos and list on fleabay stuff that I haven't got around to listing. I need the space and the cash would come in rather handy too.
- Also need to search school bags for laundry, last weeks lunchboxes and random demands for cash from school

Managed to do about 2/3rds of what I'd hoped to get done yesterday. Had completely forgotten about finishing off the shed roof so spent most of the afternoon doing that. Finally got finished just before it started raining. Need to tuck the remaining edges under and secure them but the front and back are done. Now need to figure out how to get bitumen out of jodphurs.
Roofer didn't show up and hasn't replied to the message I left. Hole in roof isn't going to go away on its own. Have yet to notice any damp patches on ceilings but I suspect its only a matter of time.
THe DDs friends are due in an hour. They're planning to bake and decorate cakes and make marmalade. Will also be trying out Approved Foods ginger cake mix, might as well have a go whilst there are plenty of people willing to eat it. When they're done I'm going to bung DD2s salt dough stuff back in the oven in the hopes it will eventually dry out. Its had four hours of oven cooling down time so far but is still wet. I refuse to leave the oven on low for 6-8 hours as instructed by the helpful leaflet school supplied. Hoping to get it stuck together and painted before bedtime ready to hand in tomorrow.
Still have to tackle DD1s homework, no ones looking forward to that. Have a pile of ironing to look forward to too. Oh joy. Still at least whilst we're home doing all these fun things we're not out spending a fortune which is just as well because my bank balance is v. sad indeedy and the cash point is at the stage where it says Nuh Uh to every card I've got. Fortunately its pay day on Tuesday, am pretty sure I can make it to then without the need to purchase anything. Its not like I have a huge amonut of choice in the matter really.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Things went swimmingly yesterday. The DDs friends arrived and made Grapefruit and Seville Orange marmalade, 20 jars of the stuff which is most scrummy. No longer have any cupboard or shelf space anywhere. Whilst the oven was on we then proceeded to make banana cake and ginger cake and flapjacks and buns which were then duly decorated in garish colours with every type of decoration they could find. Ended the morning with them all dancing on the Wii. Think they were rather disappointed to be going home.
Got most of the laundry done and sorted and folded leaving me with a small heap to iron at some point today. Gave in and nuked DD2s salt dough in the microwave since spending an eternity in the oven didn't seem to be drying it out. Thats now painted and ready to hand in today. DD1 finally managed to write her weekends diary in Welsh which was a most painful experience. She was telling me the words she wanted to use and I was attempting to figure out how the heck you spell them using an online translator and a bokk of helpful Welsh phrases for imbeciles. Disasterous is one way of describing it. The phonetically sounding "May cog I glass" is actually spelt "Mae llygaid glas" and translates as "my eyes are blue"...duh of course it does. Just wish she'd said that in the first place rather than yelling "muuuuum how do you spell cog-I". Makes me more determined than ever to find a daytime Welsh class because high school welsh homework is going to be a nightmare.
Left the emptying of the school bags until the last minute which was most definately a v. daft thing to do. No demands for money or moldy objects but a large and detailed set of instructions regarding the construction of a three dimensional dragon with moving parts that needs to be handed in this morning. In DD1s case this won't be happening. Not entirely sure quite how many hours teachers think exist in a weekend but its cetrainly not enough to get done everything that needs to be done. Didn't get anything listed on flea-bay, damn shame! Remaind me I said that at the end of next month when I'm complaining just how skint I am.
OHs friend is still here so the next few days are going to be a little different to normal in that I need to get home early enough to spend some time with him as well as doing everything that needs doing which in the case of this morning involves loading the slowcooker with dinner and then taking him to a shop, any shop, to buy a plain t-shirt and a tie. Also need to drop off some of schools furniture at a friends house for reupholstery which will involve a cuppa and a chat.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
hi moo
hope the arm is feeling better now. at least you haven't allowed it to stiffen up doing all that work. Holy cow girl you should have taken it easy, and let someone else pick up the slack.
Oh god you did make me laugh about the cleaners! that is SOOO funny. I know it isn't for you when you are trying to get everything done, but from over here it did make me giggle.
And also :rotfl::rotfl:about the cat. I guess that he will be minus his bits in another 24 hours. I am not sure which was funnier it humping the doggy bag, or the washing pile! And as for the dog eating the cat litter erm.....:eek::eek: I am SURE you could write a book about this...
chevI want a job that is less than an hour driving away from my house! Are you listening universe?
