Ouch to your arm Moo. Still quite windy round here. Makes it quite refreshing shall we say, in the bathroom, as one of the windows dried, slightly open when they were painted in the summer
. Nothing like the wind beneath your bingo wings, when grabbing a shower in the morning.
Hope you have a super day.

I'm just coming to the end of The Help, Moo. I put off reading it for ages as I didn't think I'd like it, but it is a wonderful book. Perceptive, sad and funny - and enlightening."Green pastures are before me,
Which yet I have not seen;"
I'd love to be a good example - instead, I am a horrible warning.0 -
Spoke too soon about the wind. Its back with a vengance and its opening onslaught has involved flying roof tiles. Now have a small hole in the roof. Am hoping that it doesn't get any bigger as the morning progresses.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

The Help is nothing short of awesome. You imagine women being born into slavery as something that happened hundreds of years ago but then to have those same slaves watching their mistresses colour television and air conditioning and fridges whilst not being allowed to use the toilet in the house because the germs they are percieved to carry are dirty just seems so weird, stranger than science fiction even and yet OH is of an age where had he been born in Mississippi instead oft he UK theres a fair chance he'd have been raised by a black mama rather than his own mother. That makes it seem all the wierder.
I always though of Martin Luther King as a man from ancient history, not someone of a similar age to my parents. I can most definately reccommend it as being completely different to anything else you'll ever have read and better still a great way to kill four hours sitting on the worlds most uncomfortable chair with several dozen loonies whilst waiting to be x-rayed. In fact the award for the whingiest person in A&E goes to a woman with a whiplash injury recieved whilst doing an emergency stop on Saturday morning whilst not wearing a seatbelt. Clearly the woman was in absolute agony as she wandered around whinging to those with bleeding head wounds and those who were clearly in a fair amount of pain alternating between cups of tea and packets of crisps. Other awards for bordedom busting go to the woman with the sprained thumb and the child with conjunctivitis. No wonder the place was packed.
Had to have two sets of x-rays done in the end because the first batch indicated a hairline fracture to my elbow. Fortunately the second set were clear. It appears my hand is cold and fuzzy and my arm clunky and a bit hurty because I've managed to bruise the muscles which in turn have swollen up v. nicely and added to the nicely swollen technicolour bruise covering the majority of my arm. Normal service should be resumed by the end of the week but until then I'm meant to mainline super strength painkillers and not drive. Yeah right. I can just see the look on my bosses face if I tell him I'm going to be off poorly sick with a bruise and the children will be absent from school for a week for the same reason. Fortuntately its not that painful this morning although it is v. colourful.
Have phoned a roofer in the hopes of having the crater in the roof repaired. Hopefully he'll be here before the weekend although I'm not hoding my breath. Downside is that section of roof is so old that theres no roof felt underneath it so theres nothing to stop the rain coming in and because its directly over the eaves we can't patch it from inside so have to hope it doesn't rain that much between now and then otherwise we're going to have the sloping part of an internal ceiling to replace. One of the many joys of homeownership.
On the bright side shuffled enough cash around to make my bank balance healthy and promptly wrote a cheque to cover OHs credit card bill which means that I'll be back in the red by Friday. Am rather glad riding lessons were cancelled since that leaves me with a little over £30 in cash which should cover everything I need to pay for between now and payday.... apart from roofing repairs which could be anything from £50 upwards. Am anticipating a recommendation for a replacement roof over the summer complete with roof trusses as several of them are very warped which has led to a sag in the roof. Mind you thats been there since the 1960's.
Plans for the day involve sweeping up broken glass from a netball court and instructing schools new cleaner how things are done which could be v. interesting as apparently shes v. experienced and knows scary phrases like "Blitz cleaning in holidays" boy is she in for a shock. Further plans involve roof inspections to see how much more has blown away overnight and much houseowk since I did sweet FA yesterday. Haven't even taken the plastic wrapper off the flowers OH got as a surprise.
ps. Shalva haven't got Room yet but have ordered it from the village library but theres quite a waiting list so will hopefully get my hands on it before Christmas.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Your trip sounds so much more interesting than mine to our Minor Injuries Unit this weekend following a skirmish between my arm and the wallpaper stripper/steamer, resulting in a burn which hurt a lot, followed by not at all therefore indicating proper damage. V impressive NHS and magic burn mesh stuff.
