Good morning Moo
Dark this morning isn't it. You certainly have alot to do this week, hope it all goes well for you. Won't it be marvellous when we can get outside and ignore the house for the day. I have a spot at the bottom of my garden where I love to sit, coffee in hand with my little robin friends for company. I still have flu and am so sick of being sick! This has been a rough winter for me as I took a virus in september and it lasted for 8 weeks. Then I am now 'struck down' with this crap.
Saying that I am taking time to plan what I would like to do when I feel better:)
Feel like an old lady not a fieisty 46 year old!!!!!!!!!!!
That's enough self pity from me.
I am sure you are not particularly looking forward to the arrival of your MIL. Just think she will soon be gone;)
She sounds like a right snob if you dont mind me saying so.
Moo I read with interest how you feel about the area you live in, there are always people in rural areas who have never been further than the nearest market town!!! Hope that sounds sensible.
Do you ever make a list. I find if I do I achieve more.
Dreaming of making a list and crossing done tasks........!!!!!!!!!
You take care now and good luck with your plans today"You are never too old to set another goal or to dream a new dream"C. S. Lewis

A country pub with a fire sounds like a plan. The problem with that is finding very many between thee and me. Around where I live pubs are few and far between given the methodist history of the place. I mean what country village is not complete without a pub with a fire?
Cant you get a man in to do the ceiling (maybe via a LETS scheme for cost effectiveness) and dont let on to OH? That way you are making the most of your time. While somebody does the ceiling you could be outside with the hounds working on the garden. Always a better alternative. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Nearly snorted my hot chocolate out of my nose at that Cherisong. I'm clearly a bit of a drama queen. The ceiling in question is unlikely to cover 3 square metres and I doubt it will take 20 minutes to do when I finally get my bum in gear. Its hardly worth getting a man in for. Its just one more thing to do and a thing that needs doing in daylight as the room doesn't have any windows. I'd far rather be outside in daylight hours though.
I foresee a bigger problem with the country pub idea in that the rural welsh aren't exactly known for their predictable opening hours or opening on a Sunday in the first place. Still at least I know my welsh is up to ordering beer (Hoffwn i gwrw, os gwelwch yn dda). Its one of the first phrases I learnt and since I can now count to ten I can also order lots of beer. Other helpful phrases include Glou! Lle mae'r ty bach? (Quick, I need the toilet) ... always a handy one to know, especially after partaking in the multiple pints of beer.
Did vaguely consider going to a welsh for complete morons course but they're all held during the day which is particularly naff mid summer when I'm more likely to daydream out of the window than actually learn anything. Can only assume that the implication is that all the local unemployed benefit claimants with tons of free time during the day are non-welsh speakers and thus speaking Welsh is the route to a job... which is actually surprisingly accurate. About a third of the jobs ads in the local paper are only printed in welsh.
I did go thorough a phase of making lists but failing to achieve anything other than getting up and going to bed made for rather depressing reading. I'd far rather take each day as it comes and do the things that inspire me whilst avoiding the things that I have no inclination to do. Sadly when sharing a house with a man whose mother neglected to toilet train him bog duty becomes a daily necessity. Admittedly it doesn't help the poor boy concentrate when the DDs and I are in fits of giggles because the hound from hell has barged her way into the bathroom (v. warped door which doesn't shut v. well) and attempts to lick the drips before they've finished exiting his most delicate protuberance. Funnier was when it happened to OHs friend who screamed like a girl.
Fortunately for me fridays parental visitation is my step mother and not OHs mum. Better still shes coming to borrow the DDs for the weekend. Still feel the need to tidy the place up a bit so that she doesn't trip up over any stray dog bones or walk into any enormous cobwebs. Thats the downside to all these exposed beams, they don't half attract spiders.
ps. Hello Marjory!
pps. Having dumped the wheelie bins in the back garden upon my arrival home to prevent the hound from hell legging it down the road plans for the next hour or so involve a spot of washing up and a lot of manic gardening. Hopefully the rain will hold off that long.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
Cheri hows about this... dog friendly, child friendly, veggie menu, loads of woodland walks and a log fire a mere 4 miles from Bala lake. Its about as mid-way as it gets, although I haven't a clue how pricey it is. Might be safer to take a picnic when the weather warms up a tad, assuming it ever does.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500

Oooo Moo that sounds fab. Purple Moose Brewery - would that be a side line for you given the purple hair and Moo tag :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl: And Penderyn and Merlyn as well as child and dog friendly AND veggie menu.
I think that this is a figment of your imagination, it sounds too perfect.
It would be great to meet up (when I get my car) I will have to organise a day off - or if at a weekend I would probably have to bring OH!
As soon as I get the car sorted and you have time off we will have to synchronise our diaries. Perhaps we could organise our own twoofup. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. In no particular order of importance I appear to have achieved a fair bit today despite spending rather a lot of time curled up in front of the fire with "Her Fearful Symmetry". Sadly it didn't improve. A definate case of an author with one best seller flogging drivel that wouldn't be given room on a shelf had it not been for prior successes. Also managed to fill and paint the ceiling meaning tomorrow can be spent cleaning the bathroom and transforming it into a usable space, albeit one with a door that no longer shuts thanks to a water warped frame. Filled both bins and plonked them out ready for collection, swept some of downstairs and even remembered to wash up although I could do with doing another batch before bed. Was also planning to whip up some cakes for the DDs lunch boxes but have run out of steam and am still stuffed from dinner. Too stuffed to scoff xmas pud which means we'll be having them tomorrow instead.
Hopefully the children are well on their way to lala land which means I stand a chance of an early night. Stayed up till far too late reading last night so have felt knackered all day. Got sent home from work early by the boss who was staying behind to lock up after the chaps who vacuum drains. Perhaps this means work will smell a little better tomorrow.
Didn't do anything like the housework I had planned. At least I did some even if it was only a teeny little bit. I have a feeling Friday will involve a cleaning frenzy.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500 -
You should take over from the fly lady all the cleaning frenzies you have
Just got this via twitter if you are interested. http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=187278321297463 although twitter says it is at 5.30 and the link says 9.30. If it is 9.30 I think not as it is a two hour drive for me. BUT thought you might be interested. Some days there aren't any trumpets, just lots of dragons. Courage doesn't always roar. Hi moo, have been waiting for your verdict on "Her Fearful Symmetry", I also was very disapointed with it, kept reading it by saying "its going to get better, its going to get better" sadly it just went downhill the more you read.
Great shame as I thought 'Time Travellers Wife" was a wonderful book.....Its definatly on my ever growing list of favourite books..
Have you read "Room" by Emma Donoghue?..........a great book that leaves you wanting more in my opinion..........
back to lurking..........and reading0 -

Didn't even realise there was a country park there.
Sadly my cleaning frenzies happen out of sheer desperation and panic. It would be nice to have a clean and organised home but then I'd miss out on so much fun stuff she says sitting wrapped up in a blanket quaffing a v. generously proportioned glass of vin rouge and ignoring the mountain of clean laundry occupying the armchair.Saving for a Spinning Wheel and other random splurges : £183.500
