Naughty naughty people! Am sitting here smugly still not having given in to the urge to click away. It is v. tempting though.

Had a truly pants day. Ache all over and have v. odd tingly sensations in my arms and shoulders which is apparently a common side effect. Still rather irritating. Skived out of work asap and ventured to what counts for the local metropolis although is in reality a borded up high street full of banks and dodgy discount stores. Finally paid in the DDs birthday and Christmas cheques before venturing in to Mr Ts and blowing over £100. Fortunately I had the freebie gift card so only parted with £90. Still considerably more than I'd intended though even if I did succumb to two new duvet covers and colour co-ordinated sheets and pillowcases in the sale. Hopefully muddy paw prints will be a little less obvious.

  • Sorry to hear you had a rubbish day Moo. Hope you are feeling tip top soon.

Shopping was perhaps spendy, but hey you got all those things at a reduced price, and they were things you needed, so don't beat yourself up.

    Have a lovely day.

Yesterday was a definate case of one step forward, several dozen steps back.

Finally got round to repairing the burst pipe which had only split in one place. That one place being in the centre of a dead wasps nest the size of a football. Obviously it was easily accessible to a highly trained toddler but required a crater hacking in the bathroom ceiling to get an adult up there. Even then it was a tight squeeze. Cleared out the wasps nest and vacuumed away the debris but still managed to set the roof cavity on fire. Twice. Need to buy a new fire extinguisher next time I venture out. Still at least we now have two functioning toilets, even if one of them isn't very pretty. Today requires a trip to B&Q for loft insulation to replace the stuff the wasps ate. Have also decided to install an access hatch on the off chance that this happens again.

Now need to clean three rooms off random building debris since plaster dust gets everywhere. No point doing any more than the absolute minimum until its finished though unless its still in its present state when OH departs for his next jolly in which case I'll tackle it then.

Made a start on the grand decluttering of the kitchen. Again. Figured I'd have a mega blitz and do a cupboard a day in the hopes that by turfing loads of junk everything will fit in the cupboards. Started with the top of the freezer by chucking several dozen empty egg boxes so that the dozen kitchen towels that I've unearthed in various cupboards are now obvious. Working our way through that lot will clear even more space although not for several months.

Planning to tackle the kitchen today in the hopes of getting a couple of cupboard cleaned out before the DDs arise from their pits demanding bike rides and cake making. DD1 v. helpfully made onion soup for lunch yesterday. It was most tasty. hopefully she can be persuaded to do that every weekend

Two dogs bathed. Bathroom trashed. Several dozen loads of towels to wash. One cupboard cleaned, the contents of which are liberally strewn across the kitchen worktop. One down, seven to go. Have also scraped the grease off the extractor and surrounding area. Despite wiping it down a couple of times a week it was horrific up close. Its likely to take the entire week just to do the cupboards at this rate. There are tons of thinks I'd like to rehome but can't. Thinks like the 5 gazillion piece cut glass drinking receptacles in a variety of odd shapes and sizes which are a pain to wash and a ridiculous shape to use but which OH aquired two decade back. Guess I'll have to encourage the DDs to use them in the hopes they smash quite a few. Don't see any other way of getting rid. Have thrown a few chipped plates and glasses but no where near enough. Still can't get everything in the cupboards I want to put it in, theres just so much of everything.

Meanwhile DD1 is throwing a wobbly because she has homework to do. Tis most annoying because if she put half the effort into doing it that she puts into complaining about being made to do it it would be done in no time.

Spent a fun filled afternoon cleaning out more cupboards pausing only to answer the phone. Had to make a v. tough on the spot decision. Did I clean the old oven or agree with OH that the one he was looking at in a clearance sale would be a great replacement. Sometimes I wonder what goes through the boys head. OK our oven is a bit temperamental but not temperamental enough to blow that amount of cash on something I've never set eyes on nor that I even had a vague inkling that we'd be replacing in the next few years. Will be dismantling and cleaning the old one at some point his week. Lucky me!

Sold the left over flooring on flea-bay for double what I was hoping for. Still have other stuff to list but am avoiding that for as long as possible.

Plans for today involve ironing all the washing I did yesterday. Still have a bit more to go but hopefully another load will do it. All the honky dog bedding is done although had to unblock the washing machine after two loads.

Bathing the old dear has loosend tons of hair so will be doing a fair amount of grooming and vacuuming over the next week. Still she smells much better for it. Next on the agenda are all the blankets covering the sofas to prevent the kitten clawing them. They're mysteriously covered in giant muddy paw prints despite a ban on large animals on furniture.

Forget everything I had planned for today. Instead I've been cleaning having arrived home to find OH attacking plasterboard with a power sander and all the doors wide open. Everything is covered in dust. If I wasn't eternally grateful that the bathroom looks like being ready to repaint by the weekend I would be ready to kill.

Have already mopped once but the floor is still covered in dust. More annoying in sthe dusty pile of laundry that I'd done over the weekend. Meh. Serves me right for not doing the ironing yesterday.
