A very sad loss to this forum.

Edinvestor was one of the true great posters; knowledgeable, clear thinking, independent, prolific and invariably right. She represented all the values that the MSE website stands for. She was never afraid to challenge the failings of the financial services industry where necessary and to campaign for what was fair and just.

Above all she was always there to help others on this forum

My sympathies go out to her friends and family

I am so sorry to hear this. I often read her posts and enjoyed the good-natured 'sparring' between her and Dunstoh.

She will be missed. My condolences to her family.

Oh what a tragedy, she has helped and advised me many times.

God bless and keep her family.

    RIP Edinvestor.

I am so sorry to hear this sad news. I must confess I always thought she was a he, the Ed being the clue. She gave excellent advice, and in such a way that the layperson could understand it, which was an immense help.

Rest in Peace, you will be sorely missed.

Im genuinely shocked. Edinvestor was a true true star of MSE.

I didnt agree with her very often but now she's gone I think there will be a void on the pensions forum. I was begining to wonder why the forum was so boring recently.

Edinvestor always gave as good as she got.

My condolences go to her family and friends.

I asked the forum if I should ditch my failing SL endowment policy and this is the advice Edinvestor gave me in December 2007.

"If you surrendered the policy and used the lump sum to reduce the mortgage also overpaying it by the amount of the endowment premiums to maturity, than your return would be 48,930 beating all the projections.

That's a no risk, guaranteed return at that interest rate.

If you don't need the life cover, there seems little point in holding on to this policy."

I did this and not long after the markets took a nosedive and it saved me a small fortune

RIP Edinvestor and thank you very much for your patience and brilliant advice
