We sent my hubbys ESA50 last Monday and he has his interview either this week or next week.
At the interview do they ask you questions relating to this?
Do you then also have to go for a medical for it as well?2020 wins - Espire passes for Gatwick airport lounge0 -

The first pathways interview is very easy, they really just explain what is going to happen. She took a brief history of my illness, explained I would have to go to a medical and explained about the further pathways interviews, who did them, where they were and what they were aiming to do depending on the outcome of the medical. They also check if you are getting all the benefits you are entitled to which was nothing in my case as husband is working but I got the impression she would have gone through all my entitlements to housing and council tax benefits if I had needed to.
My medical was just after this, I had to travel about 20 miles to mine which wasn't easy but in fact it probably helped in that by the time I arrived I felt so awful that it was very easy for the Dr to see how my illness affects me which isn't always obvious! Travelling expenses are all refunded a week or so later.
The medical is the biggest hurdle, I don't know the link but there are sites which explain how the points system works. Bear in mind they are assessing your capacity to do ANY job not just the job you have. So if you can't do a physically active job they may find you fit to do office type work for example !Decluttering, 20 mins / day Jan 2024 2/20 -

Pathways to work is potentially a very beneficial program, although I guess this depends on the exact nature of your husbands disability/illness. My own experience with In Training Group has been very positive, giving me encouragement to do volunteer work and also access to some advice on coping with my condition. I joined the Pathways program when I first claimed Incapacity benefit and have continued to attend the monthly meetings as a voluntary client.
My own situation is that I have a herniated disc in my back and consequent mental health issues due to the lack of mobility, pain and loss of work I suffered as a result. Volunteer work has been a saviour really, giving me much needed and manageable physical activity and also improvements to my mental health, both of which are helping my recovery.
It is easy to see everything the DWP does as "evil", and I am currently fighting my own appeal tribunal, however there are aspects of the process that can be very positive.

It depends on whether ATOS get around to doing the WFHRA (Work Focused Health Related Assessment) immediately after completing the medical. My WFHRA report turned up 48 hours after the appointment (but my WFHRA appointment was 4 months after my medical).Eat food. Not too much. Mostly plants - Michael Pollan
