sue, do you know anyone near by with a 4x4? Is there any school transport that can bring any of them out a bit for you to meet them?

What are the distances involved Sue? e.g. home-school, home-hilltop-school?

    And how old are they?

Unfortunately not LIR and no to the school transport too.

Basically, I am on my own because I chose to put them in a High School out of catchment....even though it was the LEA who told me it was the best place for them and in youngest's case, the only school who could cope with him without looking at further out schools!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

if the worst comes to the worst could a teacher or another parent ferry them to the hump back bridge? I'd phone the school and alert them: they won't -or aren't likely to- have thought of your transport issues...not individually for the parents/children. A ..gulp..taxi The cost of that might be what? Is you brother on the other side of that bridge?

Home to school is around 4-5 miles, so not a huge amount but we are in a village where the roads were barely passable this morning and the conditions have worsened since.

The problem is that the school is on the hill but before the school is a very high and sharp humped bridge over the railway, if that closes, I am completely beggered.

Or an easier way of saying is that we are at the top of the hill on a plateau, the school is halfway down the hill but a blooming big obstacle of the hump back bridge making things awkward plus the severity of the conditions and getting out of the village into the town in the first place.

OK, that makes sense. Can anyone supervise a walk up the hill to you waiting in the car? or even just to the humpback bridge (my guess is the boys can't do it alone). Are all three of them at that school? Could eldest cope with the walk with them, if he knows you are waiting to help?

Brother and parents are the other side of the bridge and at the bottom of the hill, they are in lower Felixstowe whereas I am in upper Felixstowe plus left a bit....parents (well mum) will not drive in this weather, dad would have done but he is not allowed to drive.

If worse comes to worse, then I could see if my brother could pick them up (if they haven't shut the blooming hill like last year!) and take them to my parents and when conditions improve, I could then pick them up...which might entail an overnight stay for them.

We will see how we go, leave for the school run in a few minutes...have to attempt it even if they are telling people not to use the roads.

Eldest could cope with them but he is this side of the hill too! I will give it a try and if I can't, will see how close I can get and then try to walk the rest....crutch and all!

I could also try one of my back doubles which misses out the hump back bridge but I did that this morning on the way home and it was hairy mary to say the least.
