Tomorrow I'm due to drive to the West Midlands but I have no idea of where has snow and where hasn't. If anyone has local knowledge of weather and road conditions around Warwick I'd really appreciate it as I can take a rain/snow check.
I'm out for rest of day now, so if I don't answer straight away I will still be grateful for responses. Cheers all!
Good luck at home missk, you're resourceful, you'll find something to do.
Viva I don't know where you'll be coming from (tbh I've no real idea where anyone is...:o except perhaps for Graham_Devon, & Hamish...;)). I can tell you that as a Wulfrunian, who works in Birmingham daily it really isn't so bad round here right now. Extra snow was forecast for yesterday evening & never materialised. All main roads are clear & most side roads are too.
Local forecasters are sying there is a risk of a light snow shower early evening, and possibly early morning.
The problem I think isn't snow, but ice.
A lot of LA's didn't do very well last year gritting, & there was a lot of negative press. As a result the LA's spent all summer buying grit, & the roads are all clear. Footpaths are pretty treacherous with ice though.
I can't comment on Warwick specifically I'm afraid. However where I work is on the southern tip of Bham, & people from there tell me it is pretty much the same.
I hear the east midlands is bad though (in case you come that way).
Whatever happens, please drive carefully!:AIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Urgh, I'm staying in. Mostly. Have to take the car in later but other than that I'm in till fridy I hope. Problem with me going out is if I get delayed then the chickens don't get in which means...disaster in all likelyhood! That aid roads round here are fine. I've put signs out where the public like to park on our bit warning them its an icerink and to b. off in this weather (''Ge'off my land'')mainly because they'll go skidding into a building, damaging it and themselves.0

Viva, an update.
Now I'm not one to extoll the virtues of weather forecasters, but 24 hour forecasts for Warwick:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/weather/forecast/2199?&search=warwick&itemsPerPage=10®ion=world&area=Warwick
At the time of posting it states heavy snow forecast overnight! It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Thanks for update on weather everyone, thankfully my meeting has been cancelled. The other two people travelling there are coming from other parts of the country and can't get out, so I'm happy. There are days that I love getting in my car and driving 100 miles in each direction and days that I don't. Tomorrow definitely looked like it was going to fall in the latter category. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Ah, but I'm on a 200 miler tomorrow.
DW did her round trip of 200 miles today with no problems, so it's my turn next. The only consolation is fish & chips when I get back to Crediton.
We're equipped with shovels and two sleeping bags because, last year, the road between there and here became impassable a few times. Only light snow forecast but.....:snow_laug0 -
Hope everyone is ok. Davesnave I have a delivery from inbetween you and I this morning and they are snowed in so hope you are ok and going to be safe driving.0

Blimey those roads are bad....
Had a whole lot of snow dumped on us overnight and it is still snowing badly now. The main roads are barely passable, the A14 is better but barely so (traffic going extremely slowly down it) the little side roads are horrendous and only passable by those who are good at snow driving.
Schools are open though as the head teacher made a promise not to shut the schools no matter what the weather, so school run was .....er....interesting, this morning. It has taken me over an hour to do the run, almost an hour and a half, a straight there and back which would normally take no more than 20-25 minutes. I am dreading the pick up especially if this weather continues (which it is forecast to do) as the conditions will be extremely dodgy and dangerous for those of us who are out of the immediate area and in the countryside.
Mind you, it is funny to watch the car ballet as inexperienced snow drivers try driving around in it, I think I spent a lot of time in the car murmuring "Move on in 2nd gear not 1st, don't rev it, you will make it worse!"We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

I think where I am has got off lightly.
All main routes are still clear. The snow we have is mainly from repeated light dustings. On the way to work today we had a small falling, but again that has stopped.
My trip to the cinema to see Harry Potter is still on for this evening as we speak/type.
In other news, I noticed that due to cuts the traditional anti drink driving campaign is being scaled back - no TV ads this year. However, I did think this is an interesting innovation:

Hope people take advantage of it. :T
As per LIR's post, I too hope everyone is safe & well.:)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Day 2. More snow. No trains. Still at home.

I'd be a designated driver, but I wouldn't want to drink Coke. It's not clear to me whether other things are included or just fizzy pop.
I'd like to see a good film now. I've had my delivery (they came in a small van because they couldn't get the lorries out!) and I'm ''off duty'' now till later...gave them lunch v. early outside while I was out there as they were nosy about what was going on. So a good film would be just right.0
