No, I don't have to do that.

How uncouth of you to debase this lovely people's thread with your personal bodily functions.

    :)

That's me Pastures. Uncouth. That's why we don't have posh Christmas lights hereabouts.

BTW, reading my post back, I just wanted to clarify that I would at least use a toilet :o.

ETA: sorry, for lir's posh ears, I do of course mean lavatory.

I once asked the kids in my class about chilblains, probably during a history lesson. None of them knew what I was talking about! :rotfl:

Chillblains - the bain of my childhood! Every winter without fail my toes would be horrendous and I never once did the putting them by the fire trick because I knew how painful chillblains would be but every year they still arrived.

(At school from 1974 through to 1986 - I started school early at age 4 years and not quite 5 months)
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I'm permanently frozen from october to mid-april ish. My hands and feet have no idea what normal is like. It's something to do with circulation but I've survived so far so we're ok.

    No electric underbanket here....

Part of the winterisation I do of our cars, is to spray the rubber door seals with silicone grease. Well.. spray a rag with the silicone grease spray and then apply to the door seals. (Edit: Regular clear silicone grease/lubricant spray, and NOT white silicone grease spray)

I don't want to take the chance of the doors sticking, and the door seals ripping, when trying to open them on a cold winter morning. It's a cheap useful solution, keeps the seals supple and from freezing, and the silicone grease doesn't damage the rubber (so I've been reliably told on multiple threads) nor attracts particles of dirt, like WD-40 and other greases do.. eventually causing deterioration, or rust when used on exposed metal. The more specialised and expensive product, Gummi Pflege (ebay link), from Germany, and previously only available from the parts stockists at BMW showrooms does the same.

We got the electric blankets out yesterday and fitted them to 2 of the beds at home... not mine though. They are pretty cheap to run, on an overnight setting, to keep you warm in bed at night. (I felt the top of matress last night with my hand on its low setting to check how good it was, and was toasty), but come with lots of conditions.. like need to be tested for safety once a year... although instances of reported house fires caused by electric blankets are normally 10 years+ blankets.)

Is it just me or does this post sum up why dopester is just so adorable? (don't blush dopester I'm not trying to embarrass you but I want a family member who makes sure the car is ok for winter. You are always busy doing something that improves the life of those you love and that is priceless.

Perhaps this is partly motivvated by the LR and my relationship, the back lights are out today:mad::mad:

Years ago, about 1978 from memory, I went to a nightclub in Stevenage, called Bo Jangles. It was American themed... well, I was intelligent - I knew all about America! So, when I wanted to visit the ladies' I saw a sign over a doorway that said "CANS". Right, I thought .... cans, that's American for loos isn't it - and confidently went that way.

No.. fail. It was a bar that sold canned beer, still in the cans. Doh.

This illustrates what I love about this thread.

When I drive into Watford I now wonder whether that woman in the car taking the underpass to the Harlequin centre is silvercar, and whether carolt is in the car that stopped short without getting there.

When I go to my favourite Asda I wonder if that's michaels with the trolley with the kids hanging off it.

When I think of bookstores I wonder if that was jelly standing next to me looking at the same books.

And I think of when DH was at uni in Brighton and when I ever went into fc's shop and chatted to her.

When I think back to my time studying with the OU, I wonder if tomterm8 stood at the back of the class, waiting for his dad.

When I think back to my days of visiting the Ladies Pond in Hampstead, I wonder if lir was one of the naked swimmers.

Then there's all the ssss, who apparently once went out with a woman that looks like me.

Now I'm wondering if it was Pastures New who pulled all the gorgeous blokes in the Hertfordshire nightclubs I'd hang out in during the late 70s.

Oh, and whether dopester is really my brother, who when Russia invaded Afghanistan was so concerned for the safety of the family that he disappeared for several hours and tried to build a nuclear bunker.

Still 22 and t shirt weather here but I do sleep in jimjams it just seems easier with the 3 DKs - although I have been shivering since Tues with a temperature so does that count as feeling cold?

Does anyone know anything about the planning process? Why would plans get 'called in' to the planning committee when the planner recommends yes - it is not conservation area or anything - could it be one of the neighbours has contacted a councillor? Looks like it may be time to do some lobbying?
    I think....
