OK, this is one for pastures new....
Hostgator is running a promotion on black friday (11/26/2010 ) offering
We’re offering 50% OFF EVERYTHING From 12:00AM CST – 5AM CST
We’re offering 80% OFF EVERYTHING From 5AM – 9AM CST WHILE SUPPLIES LAST (first come, first receive; so definitely don’t miss out!)
From 9AM – 11:59PM CST OR after 80% OFF accounts have sold out, we will continue to offer 50% OFF EVERYTHING
This applies to ALL Accounts and ALL Term Lengths. So you’re visitors and friends will have the opportunity to receive up to 80% off of up to 3 years worth of Hosting! That would come out to $35.64 for 3 FULL YEARS!
That includes Shared Hosting, Reseller Hosting, VPS Hosting AND even Dedicated Servers!
80% off a dedicated server for 3 years is a pretty good deal, if I read it correctly.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

(Partly on a roof!)
I suppose I'll have to take a hammer to the ice on the sheep troughs first, though I don't expect they are going to be terribly thirsty.
The 'man' comes to light/service the Aga today too. Until now, we've been surviving on one wood burner. We'll be in the lap of luxury by lunchtime.
Still got loads of peppers in the conservatory. Expect the ones in the polytunnel will go downhill rapidly now though. I'm experimenting to see if I can grow lettuce all year round, using polytunnel + conservatory in the winter. So far, it's working out.0 -
At least the mud is solid, so less messy where we're working today.

Yes, read Salad crops all the year roundIf you have mud on your rooves things are bad down there! :rotfl: I'm delighted to have some hard weather though, hopefully it will last for a few days, I should be out scooping poop but a friend is coming over for yoga. The recent softness has meant I can't do it without ruining ground more.
I have a horse who breaks ice for fun: very useful!:D0 -

If your ladder is standing in 20cm of the stuff, then mud on the roof is unavoidable.0 -

Dogs and all. IIRC correctly she likes cats, so maybe I'd do something I rarely do and put the dogs out for a guest. (Usually I'm of the opinion that the dogs live here and anyone who comes knows it).
Anyone tried and solar powered outdoor christmas lights? I'm thinking of some for an outdoor tree to make a good effort for Christmas. But not if they are useless. If they are useless I won't bother. I have plans for future Christmas decor and charity fundraising, but not yet...can't afford it and am too new to the area for people to realise any tackiness is ironic. Besides, the cats are arguing over which one wants to be baby J in the living nativity scene.
Also, does anyone know if you can varnish popcorn? If so with what?lostinrates wrote: »Yum, yum..but, umm, I want to varnish it...to make it into garlands!Oh. Well, ok, if you want to varnish it, head down to ye local art store, and ask their advice. I think http://www.londongraphics.co.uk/acatalog/Aerosol_Varnishes.html (the matt finish) would probably work. However, I have never varnished popcorn.
p.s. why are you varnishing popcorn?
LIR, you're odd....;)
But I like you.:kisses3:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Running a B&B's is cool, especially for people persons. Meeting all the different characters that pass through, and learning from their stories. Obviously, if in a party town, there's a not insignificant chance drinkers (e.g. stag do's and hen nights) making a mess of the place. However a rural setting should be fine.
I'd like to own a B&B, if it paid well, that is.
Full english anyone?
I'm not 100% that it is something I'd want to do. That said, I've worked in McDonalds (really folks, don't eat there:eek:, unless it is the breakfasts;)) A B&B sounds like something I like the idea of, rather than the actual ding of.
On the subject of full englishes, personally I find it odd that I never eat breakfast, unless it is a cooked breakfast. Most mornings I'm not that hungry.:huh:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
I've been looking at buying quiz questions for when family comes over at Christmas. I note that trivial pursuit has a new 2010 set out, £35 for 2000 questions and the board. However, I'm not too interested in the board and dice e.t.c. (have previous genus editions) I simply want card questions for people to ask one-another.
Does anyone of you nice people know where I can find a good set of quiz questions?
(ATM, I'm leaning toward buying the trivial pursuit pack.)
Thank you.lostinrates wrote: »I always thought you could buy Trivial Pursuit cards separately for this purpose? what a swizz if you have to buy the board each time! They sold some packs a while ago (we're both showing our age here), which could be bought separately. Of late, they've opted for strange layout (or electronic) boards with small accompanying packs of cards (a cynic would say they're all marketing and no substance). I have some of the old separate card packs, however many of the questions are now out of date (and somewhat familiar).
Re:solar garden lights, my experience is similar to tomterm's - I've never found any to be particularly bright.
I never quite got into trivial pursuit.
This has always been my favourite board game:

Have played games with friends for hours - all nighters even.
Last year I bought myself this board game which I haven't had the opportunity to play yet:
