I had a full wedding (but minus those chair things, they weren't 'in' at the time). Top hat and tails, sit down meal in the afternoon for 70 people, evening reception for 150, horse and carriage to get to the church and afterwards to the reception.
We did it on a budget though, gave ourselves a year to organise it and just played one company off against another and drove the prices down all the time, used the sales for the bridesmaid dresses and married during lent so no expensive decoration or flowers for the church, so in the end, we had what looked like a really expensive wedding for a fraction of the cost.
Our honeymoon should have been 10 days in Tunisia before it became a tourist attraction (so very cheap!) but because now ex hubby chickened out of having his jabs (and only telling me two days before the wedding), we ended up having 3 days in Belgium, getting over there as drivers mates on two seperate lorries and 4 days just outside Manchester at the chief bridesmaid's house (and going up there by coach).
We took out no loans, no finance and everything was paid for by cash...and we were also buying our house at the same time...the original plan was to complete just before our wedding, which then moved to just after our honeymoon but we finally moved in a month after we got back due to paperwork issues/chain on their side.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
What isn't so great is the pole barn, which will need some remedial action before long.
It's still ultra-posh to have a barn just to keep your poles in. I expect they help a lot when it comes to harvest time.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
I hate those chair things too.
some one ran over one of ''our'' wild deer. I'm so sad.0 -
I don't know these 'chair things.' Is this what you mean?
Doesn't look like there will be much room for knees there, does it?
Lord, you could end up playing footsie with Auntie Doris.:eek:0 -

Let's get a quote for 70 of them: http://www.chaircoverhire.com/
£100 deposit
£60 courier charges
£174.30 for 70 at £2.49 apiece
Soon adds up! And if somebody's sticky child fingers the chair covers right after the gateaux that might be the last you see of your £100 deposit.
And if you're close by they'll even put them on the chairs for you at 80p/chair, so that's another £56.... nice work if you can get it.... oh, that's for a minimum of 100 though, so they might be charging £80 for this.0 -
Do you think at some point in the future we'll look back and wonder what we were thinking of making covers for our chairs? A bit like we now look back and wonder about knitted covers for toilet rolls? Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

Hey Lydia. You and the kids have come amazingly far in what has been a tough year. Things are finally looking up again. Hope you are feeling ok tonight. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I am not sure that I should post this in a "nice person thread" and if I'm saying something unspeakable send me a PM and I will delete it.
As China is the only place in the world that is awash with money and can afford to spend 53 million on a China pot, I think we all should try to understand how it feels to be a modern Chinese person.
Do the nice people understand this:
Talking of TLA's of which BMW is apparently a particularly auspicious one, can anyone explain why "grass mud horse" is a Mandarin Chinese internet "joke" against government attempts to control the interweb - the equivalent of proving to the French that you still have the two fingers needed to draw back the string of a long bow?0
