Thanks everyone! Though I'm not sure if the replies are more scary!:D
My friend isn't/wouldn't class themselves as disabled. I don't know the name for it, but they can walk so far, or for so long. But after a while (NOT THAT LONG) (dang, rubbish caps lock - sorry) they have to stop walking/sit/rest, & are in pain. I'd more say mobility is limited, running is out, & walking is slow.
LIR I've looked at a tube map, I have one in my diary. It tells me nothing, nothing I tell you.
Silvercar, great idea!:)
I need to go from farringdon to tower hill station (probably twice, on seperate days) and back probably!
I will need to go from farringdon to south kensington.
I may need to get to westminster at some point though not sure where from).
I would also really like to visit this shop http://laybooks.com/ but have no idea how to get there.
Thanks to everyone who has tried to help.:T
PS, is the tube safe in the evening/at night? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
My daughter mentioned on her college application form that she had a disability - she has mild dyspraxia, so she can't write well and uses a computer instead. She was given a ground floor room with a 'disabled bathroom'. Somebody's brain wasn't engaged. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0

Farringdon is a small station so easy to find your way and not far to walk. platform 1 is westbound and platform 2 is eastbound.I need to go from farringdon to tower hill stationI will need to go from farringdon to south kensington.
Both journeys are easy circle line from Platform 2 direct. (As is westminster).I would also really like to visit this shop http://laybooks.com/ but have no idea how to get there.
[STRIKE]Where from? If you are coming from Farringdon, the easiest is to take the first Capital Connect train from Platform 4 to Cricklewood. Get there direct in about 15 minutes. You need to look at the overhead info boards carefully, only the slow trains will stop at Cricklewood and you really, really don't want to end up on a fast train and visit Luton! Once you get to Cricklewood it would be a long walk or taxi, I'm not sure of the exact bus number.[/STRIKE]
Just looked on the link and it says mail order only, looking on google streetview, it is a private house. Unless you are a personal friend of the bookshop owner, I doubt you can just turn up and browse.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. PS, is the tube safe in the evening/at night?
pm me where you stay I'll work out the route for you if you like.
tube maps look a muddle but are easier than you think.
For example, pick two places at random....look at the tube map and run your finger a long....I'll pick...Hampstead cos I lived there last and knightsbridge, cos its famous and cos its a good route to explain.
I'd get on the tube at Hampstead. Find that on the BLACK northern line. ..Got it? Its above the muddle.
Now keep a finger on that and find Knightsbridge. Thats on the dark blue Piccadilly line....ok, so some how I've got to get on the blue line from the black line....does that bit make sense? (lir assumes LJ nods)
Now the black line crosses the blue line at Leicester Square and at kingscross st pancras...right? But Leicester square is nearer knightsbridge, so thats the best one. So need to check its the tube going that way (it will say on the tiny screen above the platform)
I make the change by getting off, following the signs (there are sometimes shortcuts but don't worry about that.) if you can't see signs to the change then, if you have a travel card you can go towards the exit and even go out and in again when you have orientated yourself.:D:D
Then you get on the Piccadilly line, at the entrance to the lines you get a choice..go to the side that the map there, on the wall, shows has the right stops, and if you like check the front of the tube as it comes along for the ultimate destination.
Then get on!
pick random places and follow your finger on the map. Don't worry about taking time in the station to find signs/maps or even asking tube staff. People aren't really awful in London, they'll answer questions.
Does any of that make sense to you? IMO tube map is easier than bus ones!:D0 -

That's in Grampian Gardens - just round the corner from where we lived when we got married. Nearest station would be Cricklewood. No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -
Because of all the talking about websites its made me think I should buy domain names...especially so other people cannot. How do I do it?0

Spent ages today setting up Google Analytics across four sites, linked to my Adsense account. It was on the list of "Must Get Round To", especially as I'd had to change my primary domain for analytics purposes the other week.
Anyway ... looks like that's working (from today), exactly at the time that Google pulled the Adsense Report that I used most. So that was timely.
Translation: I can read detailed statistics now, and it's a good job I did that today as Google stopped providing those statistics easily through my usual method.0 -
