What should it have done in terms of !!!!!!ing up my computer?

As both silvercar and chucky have said, it is an irritant rather than something that would damage your computer.

However if anyone does ever tell you to play with F2, that's more serious, it switches your wireless off (Alt + F2 on some computers, Function + F2 on others) and if you don't know how to switch it back on (repeat the function), you either have to go without wireless or until you work it out or find a cable from somewhere. Not that he suggested that, just I told him not to, if you get my drift...

The one that the kids do at the library all the time which is really annoying, is that they do alt + ctrl + down arrow, which turns the screen upside down (the same with up arrow switches it back again). Oh how we laugh when they think its only the first time someone has done it and they are being original.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Thanks - really helpful info - DS has done the screen-turning-upside-down thing a couple of times, and it totally freaked me out - luckily my OP is pretty computer-literate and fixed it immediately.

Really fries your head, though... :D

I really don't like the new version (less bright), it cuts off the post on the right hand side with blooming adverts!

Now, do I go back to the old version and not be able to thank, or stay with the new version and not be able to read the last few letters of every sentence?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.

Agree, it's horrible. Wonder if they've fixed the problem yet? Another post further up seemed to suggest they had fixed it.

    Anyone able to say definitely?

I'm going to stick with new (less bright) version. Makes me wonder what the full-bright version looks like though!

I'm FRREEEEEEEZING. Not as cold as DH who is doing a check outside right now and tking some rubbish out. It got so warm earlier that we were caught out by the temperatures dropping really quickly this evening. We didn't get enough done. We've done some really dodgy fencing...looks more like a row of pallets than smart post and rail!, but not finished the length. and we didn't get to removing the barbed wire in that area. some friends ''dragged'' us to the pub, where we sat outside drinking summer drinks for two hours, and it was fabulous to just enjoy a bright afternoon and relax sociably.

Inside the cat is still brave. an unethical spit roast chicken and he's thinking maybe we aren't quite so dreadful. He'll let me stroke him, is hissing less, but Pink-cat gets very jealous and tells him off. we've let him out of the crate for a bit, and are hoping he'll go in easily. It seems terrible to give a creature used to freedom in a tiny pen, even short term.

But tonight my bones feel cold. I'd like something warming to drink, but I can' decide what...I wish I'd had mulled wine today instead of drinks over ice!

My whole body aches......not a good idea to fall down the stairs yet again! No major damage done but annoying bruises and pulls which is going to make using my crutch tomorrow fun and games as I have pulled my right shoulder (my crutch and walking stick arm) my left shoulder which has only just healed with 6 months physio and hydrotherapy after my last fall, both knees, my left ankle, my left forearm, left elbow and a small bang on the head where the wall broke my fall. I have probably pulled my back again but dare not get up to test that theory out.

Sometimes I think I should live in a bungalow....me and stairs are arch enemies! :rotfl:

Edit - Also my right wrist which was beggered anyway.

Thank you for your kind wishes, everyone.

I suppose the thing is that I feel a true bear would have driven a harder bargain. When they dropped it another £20k on Friday (a week ago), I offered £20k below that. I increased it by £5k when they said they'd had a whole lot of building work done since I had my survey done in January (long story). They came down another £5k, and I've agreed to it. I could have spent longer going up in smaller increments and I might have been able to beat them down a bit further. But then again I might not. Or someone else might have bought it. Likewise if I'd waited a few more months they probably would have dropped it further - but they might have taken it off the market or someone else might have bought it.

My Dad asked me "Do you want to risk losing the house for the sake of £5k" and I found that my answer was "no". If there were plenty of other available houses that would meet my family's needs, I would have bargained much harder. But there aren't, so I haven't.

I don't feel guilty as such. I'm quite certain that I'm doing the right thing for me. But I'm uneasily aware of those who feel that people who don't wait for bigger falls are contributing to the problem and propping up an unrealistic market. So I think that's what I meant by saying sorry.

Meanwhile, I am happy. It feels slightly unreal that I have actually got the house after such a long time of watching it from a distance, but in another sense it feels natural and obvious that I am buying it, as though this was always meant to be.

Unlike two other houses that I have tried to buy over the last year, this one is already big enough for what I want, so I am not planning to do an extension, and they have already had the flat roof (over the existing extension) completely replaced so it now has a 20 year guarantee, and they've done the other repairs to the pitched roof that the surveyor recommended. However, the electrics and heating need replacing, and some parts of the house have single skin walls so I am going to have extra insulation added. The plan is to get all that done while I am still in my rented house. I have a builder who will do the insulation and project manage the electrics and heating so that everything gets done in the right order.

    That's great news Lydia.

Occasionally good things do happen to good people.

Some logs on the fire(?), so long as the cats don't get too close.

Do you have a fire guard lir?
