It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Thanks to everyone who expressed wishes either by thanking or posting, it is much appreciated.

I'm actually a little scared right now, the way my back is going and the fact that I have been referred to the spinal service after my recent MRI, appointment came through this week for Monday....so little time between the writing and the appointment that it scares me a little (ok a hell of a lot!).

Just when a little light at the end of the tunnel is starting to appear for the future (kids getting older, about to start the 3rd course in my degree etc) and things are going wrong with my health, yes I put off for ages my seeking attention as I was concentrating getting eldest through his diagnostic process plus hospital admissions for the other two and maybe I shouldn't have. I know middle one did a fair bit of damage over the years to my body, with the last one being one of the worse (just over a year ago) by kicking me several times in the back and I suppose I will find out on Monday exactly what the damage is.

It's now at a stage where I cannot go out without my stick or crutch, most nights I have to crawl up the stairs, the deterioration has been frigteningly fast, especially over the last couple of months.

My hopes and dreams are still there, I will not give them up but it takes some adapting to!

Crutch comes in handy though for picking things up from the floor or playing practical jokes with though.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Just wondering if lj knows whether Wolves are on a major publicity drive. Mentioned this week on Gadget Show (Suzy Perry as a fan) and tonight on QI (interesting old remedy for healthy footballers...).

I can take it or leave it all the ssss. It's something I know about - as I've mentioned before, my grandad played professionally in the days they got b*gger all money for it - so he taught me, and I used to date a professional player. I was probably the only girlfriend that could explain the offside rule! I like football played well: international matches with teams such as Brazil, good Champions League matches etc, but turn out in the freezing cold on a Saturday when I could be in the warm somewhere - no chance.

Man...that sounds terrible. My sympathies go to you. Hopefully your doc can sort out what/why and then how to manage it, if not to get it better.
Back problems are so tricky to diagnose too....they can have so many different problems.
Did you say you have athritus too? I am trying to remember.

OH has a deformed spine and regularly his back 'go's'.....however after a visit to a natural health place locally a few years back, he can manage it better. He has to keep his weight down, be careful lifting plus lots of other things, do certain excercises and so on.

Each little thing helps keep it under control.

He was told he'd be in a wheechair by 40 when much younger and he has, so far, got no sign of that at all. I think something is crumbly too...maybe discs?
For him, conventional doc stuff wasn't good which is why he took alternative advice. One thing the conventional doc said was to lie down and wait it out so he'd be flat on his back for days at a time but he's found that keeping moving (occasionally with a bit of painkiller) stops the muscles and things freezing plus the stillness made it even worse.

Let us know how you get on.

Yep, diagnosed with lower spinal arthritis 10 years ago and a long history of back problems (1st slipped disc at age 15). I too have a deformed spine, born with it so nothing special to me but it does make it more unstable, especially as I also have hypermobility (very handy in my younger days to weird people out or get through very tight spaces)

I'm the opposite way round with movement, the more I move around, the worse it gets, to relieve it, I need to rest...and rest is just not possible!

Thanks for that, I'm just in a feeling sorry for myself mood at the moment.
