Just saw the very lovely Alan Davies talking about his teenage years in the 80s on the telly - lovely moment of him in conversation with Billy Bragg - double phwooar as far as I'm concerned - how to make a 30-something leftie happy.
As you've come clean with your embarassing crushes I have to admit I spent much of the 80s fancying Ben Elton. I still quite like Mark Thomas. I don't know what it is with me and leftie comedians, now I've voted tory for the first time I feel I should be leaving them behind, but they've switched to being my guilty secret. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I will confess...... I quite like having telly again....
Basically, I seem to be watching a Grand Designs nearly every evening at 8pm ish. I am now catching up on 5 years of them.
I lust a little tiny bit over Kevin Mcleod too. Apparently he has 5 kids.
We have this BT Vision thingy and you can pause then wizz through the ads.
Apart from that I quite like seeing bit and pieces of things like Location and Coast (but I find the coast presenters a bit .....well ...not as sensitive as Kevin).
Oh and Ugly Betty....never miss an episode...the shame.
Nothing wrong with watching a bit of telly, just with letting it take over your life. The programme I won't ever miss is University Challenge. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Are the nice people all busy today? Or too busy discussing politics?

Anyone else seen anything good on the telly? Since we moved we now have access to more channels than we had on the old freeview, so, astonishingly, there's occasionally something I actually want to watch.
In too much pain......had hydrotherapy on Wednesday where something went twang and have been in major pain ever since!
Plus the kids are back at school and youngest is back to not coping very well at all.We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Oh Sue.
So sorry to hear things are going badly. Hope something can happen soon to put your back right, and that youngest will settle back into school again.

Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.0 -

My teenage heart throb was Trevor Eve:o, though seeing him in Bouquet of barbed wire last week was off putting, he looked much better as shoestring.
On TV there was a mini series on BBC2 called The Big School Lottery, that you would have enjoyed. It had 2 episodes last week and one this week, you could catch it on iplayer.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. Not embarrassed at all! Saw Alan Davies live many years ago before he was on the telly - he was gorgeous! Less so now - still nice looking and very nice guy but less je ne sais quoi. Billy Bragg, likewise more phwoarr when younger, but can't see anything to be embarrassed about - talented, sound politics, passionate - ticks most of my boxes.
I agree, leftie comedians are v attractive - classic thing of funny men being sexy - I think Paul Merton is sexy too. Ian Hislop is the man I would like to fancy - can't quite make the leap re looks, but would definitely love him as a dinner companion.
Thanks for the TV tip, silvercar - will try to find time to watch that - sounds interesting.0 -

How interesting. I was gutted I couldn't be on it - it was during the hiatus when it wasn't on that I was at uni. My 2 eldest brothers were both on - 1 got to the final, other got to round 1 and got v drunk before, so got no further! Had a good time, though...0 -

Something wrong with your eyes Viva?
On comedians, I'm sure you're all aware I am a big gig go-er (in the music sense). I'm not sure whether it is a credit crunch type thing, but this year I have been to more gigs by comedians rather than bands. First time that has ever happened. (A couple of mates who work in the live music industry tell me that record companies are not funding tours...)
I'm looking forward to Stewart Francis, Rich Hall, Ardal O'Hanlon, and next year, John Cleese.
I'm also going to see this:

I'm excited!:) Have to get me posh clobber out...:DIt's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0
