Sadly, very sadly, chocolate has started to give me headaches. :(

How awful. What a terrible situation.

Is that all chocolate? V dark chocolate does that to me too - maybe you should experiment with different types to see which you can tolerate? ;)

.I've been doing one to two books a week to try to spread the cost but at least he doesn't need uniform anymore.
Have you thought about signing up to do surveys for Amazon vouchers? That'd probably be a good goal/reason to do some of those, because you'd get actual use out of the vouchers rather than just staring at them thinking "whatever book shall I randomly buy with these that I'll never read"

What you're supposed to do is put them into a rotation system. Not buy/hide/forget.

Today I am getting close to "being normal" again. With ASD you go into a heightened state of awareness... if I am concentrating on something and you surprise me by dropping something on the floor, I'll become instantly alert (probably scraped off the ceiling) and then it can take me up to 10 minutes or so for my heart rate etc to come down again ... and with that I get some 'shakes'. For years, at supermarkets, I've been asked "are you OK?..... because you're shaking" - and I'd never even noticed it, but it's one of the 'things'.

My deadline yesterday had played havoc with the state of my mind and, after a really bad night's sleep (vivid dreams are commonplace for me), I can finally feel my heart rate and headrush starting to calm down. My dead literally races non-stop with 10,000 thoughts flying in and out randomly, it's like a storm in there.

But by the end of today I expect to be "back to normal" again. Living your life where you have to force yourself to exhale and 'think calm' when you can feel your head filling with thoughts darting everywhere, and you tense up ... and it all escalates... isn't good. But at least I know why these things are happening, which means I am not anxious/angry when they happen - I can step back and think "ahh... yeah.... think calm ... breathe ...."

Super-heightened-awareness is my biggest problem as it's entirely over-whelming; once the brain's off on its jaunts there's no slowing it down really. It's hard being a genius :)

    :)

    I'm sounding like a right loony :)

Yes I do....unfortunately, I used the points I had in exchange for a voucher a short while ago and got one of his other books needed and don't have enough points yet for another one (so close, only a small amount more needed).

I never have a shortage of books I want....I'm a book fiend and always have approx 10 on my list of wants but can't get yet.:D
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I can relate to that as I am the same....mind you, just recently it has been manifesting itself not just as the shakes and feeling pin prickly and hyper aware but also feeling very sick, actually throwing up and trying to eat but retching.

I'm having a manic time folks, apologies for the briefness.

I too am struck by the curse of tomato blight. I am therefore very sad. 16 plants all look like they're dying.

I'm trying to console myself with reading Gorky park.

    Hope everyone is good.

Green and Black seems OK, but all the food containing chocolate, like choc coated biscuits, choc cakes and the cheap and cheerful choc bars are a no-no. I do occasionally risk it to see and then regret it. Only been like this for about 18 months, so I still remember the taste of chocolate.

Hm... decaff chocolate may be the answer. Or it may be awful. http://www.shopdecafchocolate.com/ .

I always equate decaff coffee with trying to get drunk on low alcohol lager.

I doubt its the caffeine as I drink coffee and coke.
