How did you get into it, viva?

Watching my 3, my DDs were all pink, frills and dollies and my DS is basically massively into anything with wheels.

So the gender stereotyping seemed to work in our house.

How did you break out? :)

I was never like that. I do have a feminine side, but have never been into pink or dolls. As a kid I was more into reading and riding my bike very fast and experimentally - which is why as I've said before I would slam my breaks on to see how close I could get to the wall and ended up cutting my ear off (which I hasten to add has been skillfully reattached). As a kid I used to watch motor racing with my family in Aus. Our neighbour raced cars so we would go and watch. Later I'd watch other formulas and speedway. I love speedway and thought it was really funny how dirty you'd get if you stood down the front. If I could afford it I would do it, no two ways about it.

I like most other sports too, except boxing (too brutal), wrestling (too silly) and cricket (too boring) oh, and darts (not a sport but a game for fat ugly blokes with bad taste in clothes). In my later childhood I trained in target shooting - also not very girly!

Maybe I'm a bit of a mixed up woman. I like my heels and handbags, but if someone tried to grab that handbag off me, I'd have no hesitation in wrestling them to the ground.

How about you carol, or Sue, or others hereabouts?

No, I think I'm quite girly - luckily married bloke who's quite blokey, so we complement each other well - he can do all the mending/fixing things and never ceases to be amazed that I haven't the faintest idea of how anything works.

I was always into reading, too, but was generally pretty girly - encouraged by my family, but TBH I don't think I had any urge to rebel.

Can't drive, can't even ride a bike, don't know the names of any brands of cars - people will say 'oh, he drives an X', as if that was supposed to mean something to me, and it just leaves me none the wiser.

That said, I've never been very into make-up etc either - maybe more of a bluestocking?

I suspect Sue will be another reader - but that may be our common factor - would guess she's more like you on the motor front.

I'm not very girly, I cannot stand the colour pink, shudder at the thought of fluffy dresses and run a mile from all that girls together talking shoes, handbags and make up.

Was never really a girly girl as a child, dad gave up trying to get my brother to watch sports with him but discovered I liked it, so he encouraged it.

F1 was my ex husbands fault...had never heard of it before I got together with him and speedway came very soon after (he hated speedway).
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

    Translation:

The nice people's thread had slipped its way down to page three of the forum. Terrible news! Worse news than the representation of BP by US politicians! Need to get it back on the front page and work as a team to keep it there with virtual chocolate as an incentive.

Hopefully that's earned my virtual Dairy Milk anyway.
How the f*** did you manage to get that?

Very different to me then. :D

I love pink and am very girly. How relieved I am that I was born female. :)

I made a typo anyway. Sometimes I think I should re-read what I write, then I remember, it's only an internet forum. :)
