I didn't know that either. I thought 'dessert' was posh, and 'pudding' was sort of homely.
I have a vague idea that 'afters' might be non-posh - that was what we called them at primary school.
Then again, these terms could all be regional varieties.
How interesting.
It's afters where I come from!0 -

I love Angel Delight, yes, Butterscotch.... I ALWAYS have a packet in the house... but rarely actually get round to using it. I've been mixing it up with powdered milk in recent years, because I gave up buying milk about 30 years ago (it's always gone off when you live alone as you don't get through enough).
I do tend, these days, to use supermarket own brands ...
TOP TIP: Check out Morrisons' Chocolate Mint Delight... it's absolutely gorgeous!!0 -

Mmmm.... Sounds lovely.
You know how you moan sometimes because we mention stuff and you say that there isn't one anywhere near you? Well I live nowhere near a Morrisons.
It's still pudding though. Afters? Totally different, non food related meaning.

I was a host organiser for some foreign students a few years back - and, in addition to finding homes for the kids, I had to find homes for the bus driver and the teachers that came along with the schools. Once I couldn't get enough places for them to stay, so had to accommodate the (female) bus driver and (male) teacher. I served them Angel Delight as afters for their evening meal. It went down a treat
And so it should.... Angel Delight IS a treat!0 -

Not for 20 miles, but there is a Morrisons here.
I've deleted the rest of your comment from my quoted response, because this is the nice people's thread and I think you were being a tad frisky there.0 -
Here's a nice banana thing I used to do.
Take one cheapo chocolate-coated choc-ice and one banana.
Slice the banana up and put it into a serving dish. Nuke that for 15-20 seconds at a time, turning it occasionally, until the banana is firm, but just turning mushy - and hot. Slice the choc-ice lengthways, exposing the most ice cream. Place the two halves of choc-ice, ice-cream side down, on top of the hot banana.
Eat with a spoon.
mmmmmm
That's a 1 minute/25p hot AFTERS.0 -
