Oh, by the way, LIR will know what this means... flystrike has struck. Caught in early stages. No one who doesn't know what it means should try to find out... trust me on that one. Lamb will be fine.

Oh no. Well done for catching it. I had a rabbit once that was ''struck''. I caught it too, but its ghastly isn't it?

Do yours have tails on? My mother was shocked when she first came to this country to see docked sheep. Bets its as common where she is from now.

I am considering posting on here. What test do I need perform to find out whether I'm a 'nice person' or not?

edit: oh I see i've been here before and, according to ISTL argument, niceness is directly proportional to number of posts on this thread, that's science at its very best.

    edit2: yes, I am bored.

Yeah, it can be dreadfull. The problem is it is very quick... its less of a problem with rabits, because they are normally in the house so you catch on very quickly. At this time of year we check all our sheep at least twice a day, and often more regularly. Given the lifecycle, that normally means you will see it within 6 hours of the first... um... noticeable problem.

We don't dock our sheep, and I think it's very rare for hebridean sheep to be docked. Although, I have done it to other breeds.

    Congratulations Carolt!

    Tomterm, what is flystrike?
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.
