    Congratulations Carolt!

    Tomterm, what is flystrike?
WARNING - do not read this answer if you have a delicate disposition.

It's a problem that can affect any animal... or even people (it did to my gran in nigeria)... a fly lands on soiled fur, or a minor scrape/ open wound, and lays eggs. When the eggs hatch, they give off a sent that other flys can smell for miles around. More flys come to lay eggs. Obviously, the magots need food. They eat the animal. It can kill a sheep in 48 hours.

    Ouch! Sounds nasty.....
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Yes, me too LIR. A bit of rough is my one weakness, as Dorcas Lane would say :D. I just cant help myself. Each to his own eh? With some folk it's lemon drizzle cake but with me it's er, well, probably best left to the imagination :rotfl:

I expect it's cos I am so darn posh ;)
Whereas I like a bit of rough. :) actually, quite surprised I fell in love with DH...he's so darned civilised. I might talk proper like:D but I used to think of myself...in the old days, as some what feral, or ''not bred in captivity'' at least.

Can we possibly lose this obsession with 'posh' which is a horrible word anyway? Does it matter that David Cameron went to Oxford? or anyone else for that matter? why is it that people are chastised for their education and background?

I have made this point before on MSE somewhere I think, if you dont know something, a topic or a word or whatever, go and find out what that word means or topic is about. What is the point of higher education if we all end up speaking in monosyllables so the the rest can understand?

I don't apologise at all if that sounds snobbish, eduation is a wonderful thing, open to all, use it and educate yourself if you feel you need to, don't expect the world to wait patiently and explain it you. Then we might all make some progress eh?

The background/ experiences of the countries Prime Minister are important.

A good education isn't open to all, given the closure of many grammars, being able to afford a good school helps many to go a long way.

    Wow, I'm debating. :)

Not remotely on topic but just came across this and felt I had to post it for others who would appreciate it.

    Clearly, some things never change:

Bankers Are Just Like Anybody Else, Except Richer
This is a song to celebrate banks
Because they are full of money and you go into them and all you hear is clinks and clanks,
Or maybe a sound like the wind in the trees on the hills,
Which is the rustling of the thousand dollar bills.
Most bankers dwell in marble halls,
Which they get to dwell in because they encourage deposits
    and discourage withdrawals,
And particularly because they all observe one rule which woe
betides the banker who fails to heed it,
Which is you must never lend any money to anybody unless
    they don't need it.
I know you, you cautious conservative banks!
If people are worried about their rent it is your duty to deny
them the loan of one nickel, yes, even one copper engraving
    of the martyred son of the late Nancy Hanks;
Yes, if they request fifty dollars to pay for a baby you must
look at them like Tarzan looking at an uppity ape in the
    jungle,
And tell them what do they think a bank is, anyhow, they had
better go get the money from their wife's aunt or ungle.
But suppose people come in and they have a million and they
want another million to pile on top of it,
Why, you brim with the milk of human kindness and you
urge them to accept every drop of it,
And you lend them the million so then they have two million
and this gives them the idea that they would be better off
    with four,
So they already have two million as security so you have no
hesitation in lending them two more,
And all the vice-presidents nod their heads in rhythm,
And the only question asked is do the borrowers want the
money sent or do they want to take it withm.
Because I think they deserve our appreciation and thanks,
the jackasses who go around saying that health and happi-
ness are everything and money isn't essential,
Because as soon as they have to borrow some unimportant
money to maintain their health and happiness they starve
to death so they can't go around any more sneering at good
old money, which is nothing short of providential.
