lir: how far away are you? I'd love to keep you company for a boot sale. :) OH won't let us do a boot sale, I normally end up slinging a large bag at charity shops, furniture gets collected by freecycle/ymca and everything odds and sods get freecycled. They must love us in the locality. We've given away stereo systems, ipod docks, guitars, crates of books. My heart breaks when I think of how much money we could have sold some of that stuff for.

You are a doll....I'm a fair way...from where I think you work, about an hour and a half two hours...(practically we're closer to London after the move but I reckon by car distance from major artery will work out the same in time). But I could drive east too.

I usually have zero patience but it has taken us three years to sell our house and we have been "camping out" in a neighbour's vacant house for nearly two months so we did not lose our sale.

Nothing suitable came up for us to buy (for some strange reason did not fancy the house overlooking the cemetary, or the one that floods twice a year and is next to a football pitch and the bypass).

Saw a house that had come up for sale on Tuesday, viiewed it Thursday, put in an offer yesterday morning - rejected- put in another offer saying it was on the table for them to consider for about a week but that it was the best we could do.

Got a phone call around 11a.m.today and they have acccepted the offer!!!

    :j:j:j

Can't wait to move in and get settled. It has a garden!!!! A garage!!! Ensuite bathrooms!! Utily room! Cloakroom!!

The excitement is because we have spent 21 years in an Edwardian town house with none of the above , lost a house we loved because we could not sell ours a couple of years ago but did not want a new build etc and nothing was coming on the market.

    I'm so excited I'm in a daze.

    Congratulations. New house sounds lovely.

I keep mine in boxes but I put BIG labels on them describing the shoes :D

    Pedantic, moi? :rotfl:
Elona, its frustrating isn't it! I was packing my spare shoes last night, and I got a bit grumpy because I keep all my shoes in their shoe boxes, (like cds) and Like CDs, they STILL get mixed up...dh is a demon for putting cds in wrong boxes..but doesn't explain my shoes. Annoyingly I cannot find a beautiful pair of LK Bennett black shoes....my only really smart black shoes nowadays. I did manage though to ut DH's shoes in pairs, instead of rolling around in a random groups.

    edit: the bottle was champagne!

Not at all...I used to do a doodle of the shoe onto a post it note, but TBH...and this is pathetic, I know the show by the shoe box (dune boxes, for example, are slightly different shades) or at a struggle the model name of the shoe..lots of shoesellers have their own diagram on the box too now. One of dh's sweet misconceptions when we moved in together was, that when helping be unpack he tried to throw away some of my shoe boxes and I told him I keep them...which he understood as I collect them..so he told all his friends and encouraged them not to throw away their shoe boxes but save them and bring me shoeboxes. One of our friends still does. Luckily he had great big feet, so the boxes are useful anyway

We just walked the dogs and almost died in the heat. I bet they are dropping like flies down the road at Glastonbury

I carefully packed some boxes six months ago. Meticulously detailed every single item in each box. Had a big A, B, C, D, E, F on the outside of the boxes. Took them into storage. Then, for the first time in 25 years I had one corrupt file on my PC .... the one containing the lists :(

I once again got lumbered with my niece and nephew this afternoon as my ex sister in laws shift and my brother's shift overlapped (they work for the same company on opposite shifts for easier childcare - the boss has messed around with the shifts). Once was ok but two weeks in a row?

I ended up taking them along the seafront for a little paddle in the water and then spent out to take them on a little kids ride (which eldest was operating!), couldn't afford it really but they had fun.

When I told my brother that I cannot do it next weekend as I am going to a charity all day gig, he said to take them with me! It's stressful enough taking my own, let alone two younger ones as well and especially as I will be expected to pick them up and then drop them off afterwards...I was planning on walking to the pub with the boys and leaving the car at home for the duration so I had the option of having a half a pint if I wanted. The cost of taking them is prohibitive too, my boys have got nursing a diet coke or cordial for 3 hours down to a tee, younger children can't quite understand "No, I can't afford another drink, that one is supposed to last" and then have a strop.

Not on my afternoon out that I have been looking forward to for a whole year thankyou very much!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I can see wall in our bedroom...It must mean we are nearing the end of the stash of books and other small items...first wall sighting has been under the big chest of drawers. We found three boxes of wine at the very back. :)

Does any one else find the worst bit is not clearing the bulk of stuff, but the odds and sods? The top shelf in the wardrobe for example, is now free of books, but there is a ligh shade, a pretty crushed hat, a bottle in a box (haven't yet identified what it is) some odds an ends of paperwork, and a dozen or so other unidentified things.

Also, unbelievably considering how much this room alone has has taken out of it because every thing has come out of its ''place'' and is all in the middle it gets harder and harder to navigate the room.

LIR, 3 boxes of wine? they must be vintage by now! :D

That must be an enlightening experience though. Because surely you are finding stuff you had forgotten you had? and then stopping to read/look/reminisce? Come to think of it, that would take me ages to move! i love discovering old stuff I'd forgotten about, especially £10 notes in old trousers!

we've moved a lot, but this is harder...slower, more..final I guess. Yes, we are getting very distracted as we go a long. we've also got a bit slapdash today, getting less organised about what goes in which box.

we ended up throwing lots of things into binbags on the last day :o

But we did move out of rental and it needed to be cleaned and I was making sure it would pass the inspection.

and anytime with the boot sale btw :)
