Does anyone know how to get biro off an aquadraw mat? :(

    How does an aquadraw work?
It looks a bit like doing a brass rubbing with a roll on deodorant filled with water IYSWIM ?

Oh the trauma of doing creative things as a child - such as being accused of drawing on the wall paper, when it was not even me who had done it.

Yes, the appointment today is about the operation they put off immediately after the strokes for fear of further damage at that time as the damage from the strokes was so severe and widespread and needed to heal a little.

I had a really unsettling dream last night...I dreamt I was pregnant! It was really vivid and weird, all the emotions I could feel when I was telling my parents (in dream world) and it made me really anxious. Weird thing is that there is no possibility of a pregnancy, A, I need a womb and B, a bloke would be handy too!
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Do you use "a lumbar roll" ie something to make sure that the lower part of your spine remains concave rather than convex when sitting?
    Google for examples.
Particularly needed when sitting in something that gently jolts the spine and thus stretches it in an incorrect position?
Same thing goes for a good supportive mattress.

I don't but I should. Part of the problem when driving an old defender is how active t all is. The gear stick in first or second requires a big reach to the left, the handbrake, almost a touch of the toes. Turning the wheel is some medieval combination of the wrack (sp?) and weightlifting.

I'm the wrong person to ask how it works as how things work is definitely not my forte! (3 year old DS keeps asking me how things work and has alreay gone beyond my level of knowledge :o, eg how boats float, how planes fly, etc - lots of 'ask your father' when we get questions like that. :o I'm just happy that things do work; never bother my pretty head as to how they do that. :) )

    It looks like this:

    so definitely no brass involved.

Just not sure if I can use a stain remover or something on it and wash it to try to get the biro off?

lir, you're right - asking for kids NOT to draw on smething that you're supposed to draw on...with water, is probably asking for trouble.

And PN, yes, it is v expensive. :( Was a b'day present, I think.

Good when it's hot. And much cheaper than paint when you live in a rented house and don't wish to knacker the carpets. :o

    Good point.

Do mums still do the roll of lining paper thing for art? I loved that. My much more artisic friend did a pictoral story across a whole roll of lining paper different scenes of a little town...I remember my pre-school awe that someone could concentrate on one thing for so long and on multiple drawing sessions.....for fun!

Before this thread is replaced by a new one, I just want to show off that my dd has just achieved a BSc First-class honours degree.

    Proud mum

Getting a first is one hell of an acheivemnet.

Build a huge neon sign above the house to announce it.

Employ a person to walk 5-10 steps in front of you to clear your path announcing "clear the path, mother of phenomenal talent coming through!"

Spoil her rotten this weekend treliac. She must've put in some real dedication & effort to get this.

Come monday though, I want her in a job, paying taxes, & working on redcing this deficit we have!:D
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

Yes that's the impression I had, more or less, but the one I had was very well-used.

The most comfortable seats I've used, apart from those in an old Audi, were those on our Transit van. The Transit was excellent in that respect and our Mercedes is poor, despite its good road manners. We'll be returning to a Transit, I think.

Its all good fun though.....I've been driving my dad's car a bit recently and to be honest the only thing I'll miss from that is cruise control. In fact my dad has been nagging recently about be having a car of my own. But there is nothing I want really. If I had a good firned into cars I might prevail on them to find me a serviceable banger to last till what I want becomes available, but dad and DH are not car-y at all and I trust none o us to select an old car.

    Oh Carol,

I have a nasty feeling you don't know how to do a brass rubbing?!

And you are a teacher too. The correct answer to the Why, Who, Where. What, When & How question is "I don't know, but I will find out for you tomorrow".
Surely we don't have to depend on your husband to bring up the next generation of little geeks, so we can compete with the Indians and Chinese?

So Carol's mission for today is to demonstrate her professional ability by explaining AquaDraw concept to a proverbial taxi driver;)

John...did you need to post that twice?

I know how to do a brass rubbing and found teachers were unnaturally obcessed with this, we did rubbings all over the show on multiple field days. Once would have been enough I would have thought.
