You'll be wanting to check the reply then, if your head is up to it :D

I must say thanks to Ellie (fanks Ellie :) ) for asking because I have been meaning to but never did. So where are you moving to now then? wheres 'home'? if you dont wanna post that on here I understand. Thanks for the concise recap though.

    Cheeky Ellie :D

My head is fine, well it is now! Just off to buy some stuff here and there for resale tomorrow at ze bootfair! Hope it doesn't rain though, that would be regrettable....I ideally need an assistant though, for tea and wee breaks ( I meant wee as in short breaks but the alternative also applies :D)

    Reward will be Sunday lunch...

Commiserations, FC, for everything, by the sound of it!

Hope your Dad continues to impress the medics, Sue, and that they can do something more for him. No doubt where you get that fighting spirit.....;)

Well done to your DD too, treliac. I don't remember you mentioning her much, so a big shout about the 1st is definitely in order! :j

There is no way I can keep up tonight, but on the subject of smallholdings, AW, I can vouch for the fact that having one is no way necessary, or worth it, if all you really want is a Land Rover Defender. One of my barn conversion neighbours has the LR, and his 'land' is about the size of our living room carpet!

Last month, I had the experience of driving a Defender, albeit an older model, complete with compulsory springer spaniel. OK it probably hadn't been serviced since 2003, or cleaned since it left the factory during the previous Tory administration, but to cut to the chase, I wasn't bowled over with it. :(

On the pig subject, yes, I could have them here and enjoy them, even give 'em a good area which they wouldn't spoil, but like lir, 'sending them away' would be too much, and as for eating them.....

Other people's are OK though! :o

OK Dave you got me, hands up,its a fair cop etc etc.. I do just want a Defender to muck about in, in fact, I may even look for any Series II Landy to be honest. I was looking at Volvo estates aswell, specifically the 940 estate, but they are becoming increasingly rare now at reasonable prices. Incidentally, re comfortable seats in cars, I had a Volvo 240 GLT a few years ago, my God, like an armchair! beautiful leather seats that were sooo comfortable. And the 940 is the same, very very comfortable, and of course, in estate form, you could fit a wardrobe or a chesterfield in quite easily, or a few hens....never tried a pig though...:D

Urgh. My first landrover was a series three. As rough as our twenty year old is it is a HUGE improvement on the series 3.

    How very dare they!

Someone has been reading our column, and has ripped off our very own lostinrates.

    See:

Just to say, lir, that it's not a patch on your writing - but does go to back up the point I've been telling you for months, that there was a ready-made (and well-paid) hole just waiting for you to fill it.

I want revenge. More specifically I want you to get your book written up and sent to publishers now! before this second-rate copycat gets there and publishes their feeble imitation...

    Oooooh, the rotter...

Still, quality will out. And there's always The Times, Tatler, Country Life etc if they've nabbed The Telegraph. :)

Your writing has much more soul - there's has no life; it's practical, but with none of the warmth and light humour (along with occasional tragedy) which enlivens yours.

Please write me a book. :)
