So Uncle John, how does the Thomas train know where the tracks are?
The blue train and the pink princess are powered by two small batteries. They must have a sensor that can recognise water (or could it be the underlying colour?)
There are complaints that the water filled rollers that create the track have to be used very carefully to create a continuous track. It seems that a break in the track, or a track that has started to dry out, get the train/princess very confused.
Now for the creative child in all of us: What happens if the princess tries to dance on the train tracks and gets run over by the train?
(There is an announcement over the tannoy that there has been an "incident" on the track and the men with the steel coffin try to be discreet.)0 -
Well, my courgettes have come forward with a few HUGE yellow flowers!:)
Hoping they'll be bearing the first fruits of the harvest.
Actually, I'll be harvesting chives tomorrow. It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

As the top surface of AquaDraw must be in some way permeable for the under surface to know it is wet, it must include pores of some sort. There is a major repeating criticism on the web that it is impossible to "keep it clean".
So Carol, if you can devise an AquaDraw cleaner that does not damage its performance, you may have created a new niche web business with a high value added:T
Gosh you have been busy!
Still don't know how to get biro off it, but hey ho!
OH points out we could just use it with biro on it, but it affronts me and reminds me of the 3 incidents of biroing on perfectly good furniture within the last week (only 1 of which came off in its entirety ); plus I feel it sends out the wrong message to DS. I want him to understand (fairly urgently) that biroing on things destroys them and is NOT TO BE ENCOURAGED.
Oh dear.0 -

It will give mesomething to think about while I'm off line.
Carolt, it would help me if you set me a target ...say for example words before you want to read it.
I also have to be careful as what is written here is MSe copyright, innit. So no more chicken tales?
You're moving house so it seems rather churlish to demand chapters.
When you have time, do 2-3; I think publishers usually ask for 3.
I wouldn't worry too much about mse copyrighting your stuff - who's gonna tell them?
As far as I'm concerned, my words are mine, wherever I may have repeated a few.0 -

Leave it on as a constant reminder that things don't look as nice when covered in biro.

Chicken watch: One big old hen dead. Natural causes. She died of old age*.
I feel knackered today as I helped carry down 30 very heavy recycled (we've been chipping cement off) paving slabs, down to the bottom field... we're laying down flooring in the timber shelter, and turning it from a horse stables into a proper little workshop thingie... it is taking a remarkably long time. Why does everything always take three times as long as you think?
That's not my main project for the day, though... I have been scything away at bramble and bracken... cleared around 150 square foot... quite good going, but very hard work. Trying to prevent the bracken spreading.
* Ok, ok, I should have killed her years ago and replaced her with a new model, but she was one of the first chicken's we got, and you can't help but get attached to the clucker. Unlike sheep... which are always annoying and dim.“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

LOL, a SHEEPkeeper admitted it! I've been telling your ilk for agesActually, thinking about getting a few for the freezer: we have the grass and good do with sheep on the ground.
How old was your hen Tomterm? We have one old lady, she still lays every now and then, and she's a delight. If you have the room, no issue IMO. They teach the upstrats manners..in a less desperate way than the middle aged and younger models, and are usually up for a chat.
Thats some clearing! Well done you!0 -
carolt...would oil work? Wd40 r something? Ask in old style!0

There's not really a room issue, we have room for a lot more chickens if we want... just keep enough for eggs for our family....
I don't know exactly how old she was, she's at least 6 years old, but we got her as a gift, and I think she was quite old when we got her.
( And sheep are annoying, but not as annoying as having to cut the grass regularly... and you eat them, too)
