:oSorry it must have been back button mess up on my part:o

    I've deleted the duplicate

If water makes the magic AquaDraw work, will scrubbing off the ball point scribble stop it working?
Would some other solvent such as petrol dissolve the whole thing?
I think we should be told.

It happens to us all. I have a weird thing where sometimes my posts go onto different threads entirely:o

    Oh Carol,

I have a nasty feeling you don't know how to do a brass rubbing?!

And you are a teacher too. The correct answer to the Why, Who, Where. What, When & How question is "I don't know, but I will find out for you tomorrow".
Surely we don't have to depend on your husband to bring up the next generation of little geeks, so we can compete with the Indians and Chinese?

So Carol's mission for today is to demonstrate her professional ability by explaining AquaDraw concept to a proverbial taxi driver;)

I do indeed know how to do a brass rubbing. Not terribly relevant to my teaching, though, as I teach English not Art (or general primary either, for that matter).

Where developing geeks is concerned, my husband is probably not ideal either - he's no geek - but got on better with physics than I did. :)

The 'I will find out for you tomorrow' approach is a good one, but I think 'daddy will tell you the answer' is a good way of making use of scarce resources - in my case, time.

It seems unnecessary to duplicate knowledge when it already exists adequately within the family unit. It's the same reason my OH doesn't know how to deal with most of the family finances and can never remember people's birthdays or our DC's friends' names. ;) No need to duplicate the effort. :)

...(3 year old DS keeps asking me how things work and has alreay gone beyond my level of knowledge :o, eg how boats float, how planes fly, etc - lots of 'ask your father' when we get questions like that.

    Oooh, looks good.

Can't wait till DS can read! - then can just turn whole site over to him. :p

TBH, I don't really care how things work - just happy that they do... :)

I'm a bit like that now. (is it part of not being childlike I wonder? Losing that magical bit that is beaten into submission from too much housework, worry about bills and future and what everyone will et not push around plates for supper?)

I used to be absolutely the opposite, and I blame school/college science, for blunting that. e.g. in biology (always my favourite science at school) I couldn't accept that thing just happened, I need to understand why to remember it...this made my biology teacher very frustrated, the answer always was...you don't need to know that until you are studying at degree level....I guess this is partly because of having to get the syllabus covered, but its very hard for those of us who learn by...well, ''understanding'', not memorising:o. I also blame this in by almost obsessive dissections as a young undergraduate....anything, everything I could get hold of I wanted to dissect.. there were a few animals of friends whose problems were so intriguing I kind of hoped I'd be able to look in when dead. :o:o

My nieces have Aquadraw. Initially I was impressed, but now I've decided that it just creates the impression that its OK to use messy art stuff in areas that need to be kept dry. Far better for the little ones to understand that art stuff is only to be used in the kitchen/ garden/ at nursery (depending on your level of neurosis).

I had it in my head that you taught history of art:o

The examiner appointment sounds even more impressive if its in a compulsary subject.
