That is what is worrying me....that usually means money. As I said though, I can't really complain, it has lasted over 7 years and is in constant use, so it has done well.
I'll have a look in the book this afternoon and see if it offers any ideas!
If you do need a new washing machine The Family Fund may be able to help you as your son(s) are disabled.
A couple of years back our washing machine died and we couldn't get hold of a second hand one (no way would we have been able to afford a new one). As we have a profoundly disabled child who gets through at least a washload a day of his own, our HVisitor suggested The Family Fund - they were really helpful.
Just a thought (and hope you're not offended!).........0 -
The washing machine sounds like a split rubber pipe to me, it its not something silly like the "lid" that allows access to the pump (for removing coins) getting loose? It seems to be a sudden failure suggesting something has broken.
I had a pump start to fail - for about 6 months that simply meant sliding a metal tray, with a newspaper in it, underneath when going through a wash cycle. The newspaper, inspected for the first few drips identified the location of the drip: Viz the pump's spindle. It got slowly worse, so I replaced the pump at a cost of about 20 GBP.
What model of washer is it?0 -
No idea about the lid.....afraid my knowledge of washing machines is about as good as my knowledge of types of guns, nil. It was one of those things that ex hubby always did and although I have managed to learn most things since he has left, washing machines and plumbing is not one of them (although I can change a washer on a tap!).
Either way, it looks like something where I would have to get a man who can out, it's times like these where I miss having a handy man as a husband.
Oldmacdonald - It's an LG Intellowasher, circa 2003. I did once try the family fund when the boys were small and before we had the diagnosis' and it failed. Since then, I have got as far asking for an application form and then not doing anything with it. It's a bit of a mind block I have, for ages (it seemed), I was being told there was nothing wrong with them (youngest is complex and didn't fit neatly into the various holes), or as my ex hubby was want to say, it was my fault they had problems, so I find it hard to seek the help that the various people offer. Almost like we don't warrant that help...I can't help it and even as youngest sons' problems increase with different things, we still don't go to groups, have contact with the societies, meet up with other parents who have children with disabilities...nothing.
Some of it is embarrassment too, in the dark days of my breakdown when middle son was extremely violent, I just didn't want to have contact with the groups as I knew it was going to be stressful and embarrassing. We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -
Silly question, have you cleaned out the drain filter? Mine always leaks when I've forgotton to clean it out. Yay! Since my laptop broke getting stuck in a permanent L shape a few months back I've been surfing on my little netbook. Its compact and lovely but hard to scroll through and I kept missing posts. Today my lovely new laptop arrived. For the first time I can see fc's cat photo, I don't normally like cats much but that is really cute. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

I thought my thanks count had dropped a little. This explains it...;)It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
Just for you lj, I'm going to go look some of yours up. There's nothing like a spot of gratuitous thanking. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? DH was referenced in a newspaper today.
It took me a long time to get the chicks in tonight. Two of the boys....one of the definite boys and my beautiful alison, had a little fight today. Now they have learned about fighting things will start to get harder. They are still so little, never had boys skirmishing so young.0 -

I've been sorting out more plants. All 8 courgette plants are now soil bound. Have given away (to good homes) 7 tomato plants (I still have 20 left!). Happily the cucumber plants are now coming into their own, & the chives are thikening out.:)
Lots of rain recently has done the brocolli and sprouts the world of good.:)
First batch of lettuce eaten. Second brought into the house tonight (yum!). Isn't it amazing. I was sat at work the one day last week with a simple brown bread, mayo, chicken & homegrown lettuce sandwich & it was soooooo lovely! I just wanted more...
I really can't wait for my tomatoes...:drool:It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -
