Oooh exciting. When yours hatch, you must post pictures for us.
Do you know anyone who's bereaved? Point them to https://www.AtaLoss.org which does for bereavement support what MSE does for financial services, providing links to support organisations relevant to the circumstances of the loss & the local area. (Link permitted by forum team)
Tyre performance in the wet deteriorates rapidly below about 3mm tread - change yours when they get dangerous, not just when they are nearly illegal (1.6mm).
Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    yay! little chicks.

i'd love to have chickens but we're not allowed poultry (on the deeds, what a strange little clause).

expecting rain so went out but it hasn't rained so not quite sure what to do just yet...

noise, rats....its not all fun. Sir tweed starts calling at about 2 am. Most of our cockerals have crowed LONG, LONG before dawn. And hens can make a fair bit of noise too.

As a kid some firends and I used to delight in walking their goats over the park that had a big ''No dogs'' sign. Nasty little pedantic creatures that we were :o

i think there's something in my karma today. went to get some muck (stables close by) and the man who owns the land is interested in setting up a little co-operative with chickens. He seems amenable to plans so I can help him plan. Heated polytunnel with chicken run. :D:D :j :j

And he shoots rabbits too. He'll give us a ring when there's some going spare.

They never stop do they? If I go outside at any time of night I can hear crowing. There's one nearby, but I'd guess some are well over a mile off. We also have geese quite close. None of that bothers me, as it's what one expects in the country.

I don't feel the same towards dogs, though the nearest ones are no bother. There was a dog at the other end of our land which barked for hours on end when it first arrived, but so would I if locked-up in a small run all day. I had plans to create an embankment behind its shed, and then plant around 100 leylandii on and behind that, but the nuisance has diminished greatly over the past couple of months. I guess the poor animal has now accepted its lot, like its quiet companion.:(

I'll still make a woodland there next winter, but it might be 'nice' trees now! :A

My neighbour and I had a chat about my rooster...he said,

    ''he's quite noisy isn't he?''

''yes I said, I can barely here your sheep now''

we both grinned at each other. Our other neighbour runs a B &B, and I feel more guilty about poor people not used to country noises.

Our dogs bark at the gate when things go past. :( and when people arrive. TBH, I'm glad they bark when people arrive, we need that here....

The gun dogs a walk (about a mile and a half? A mile?) away bark, I can hear them. Often the dog down the road barks. In the summer I bring ours un because other wise they have a twilight barking, singing in rounds, and its no good for anyone. Sadly, there is a limited amount I feel I can say to our dogs while the others are singing. :(

I'm sure it's a better noise than the constant sound of police sirens in some of our big towns.
