Youngest sons birthday today...god I feel old but not as old as I feel when I realise my eldest is going to be 17 this year.
Last night going through old papers, I came across the file I started using when hubby left, it was heartbreaking to read through it...all the pieces of paper with contact numbers to arrange benefits, letters asking for evidence of our savings, first appointment notes with my solicitor and lots and lots of notes on what we could possibly claim, what we could def claim and what we couldn't claim until savings had been depleted. The saddest part is I could see from the smudges in the writing where I had been crying over the bits of paper, the writing going from my calm normal style to this erratic almost angry style and the ever desperate notations as I became more and more confuzzled, more and more upset and more and more angry.
Anyway, best get on that school run....We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.0 -

The scariest moment in the all the time I've had the kids is sitting in the passenger seat of a car driven by DS. Not because his driving is bad, but just because I am sitting there clutching on to the seat for dear life, knowing that there is nothing I can do to control this machine that he is driving. It's not him, its me; I was absolutely petrified. While he was learning, he would drive to school and I would drive the car home. By the time I got home I was a nervous wreck.I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards. I, my parents and a driving instructor all helped teach DH to drive. Mainly me of course. Its why I find it very hard to relax as a passenger even now while he drives. I feel really sorry for DH in that respect.0 -
Hope everyone is having a better day than I am at this minute. Come on here to calm down. Am quietly seething.
If anyone has a tip to make children tidy their rooms without behaving as though they were Joan of Arc being martyred at the stake (or whatever happened to her), please tell me.
The final straw was hearing DD1 proclaim that "mummy went into London today" ie I am a lazy good-for-nothing while my poor, dear child is worked to the bone...
Grr. V v v v cross. Omits to mention it's mummy's first couple of hours off in weeks - that mummy worked on the bleeding train there and back. That mummy will be havig a meeting tomorrow and marking through the holidays - just as my teaching finishes, my marking begins.
Am v worn out.
Need lots of tea and sympathy.
Don't even want chocolate - had some earlier whilst feverishly finishing a piece of work to send off this afternoon, interrupted by the not-very-distant sound of children bickering, and DS emptying what appears to be every toy he owns onto his floor. And then crying because he trod on one of them and it HURT HIS FOOT.
Give me strength.0 -

Nope, don't understand that one.0 -
I gave mine the choice of either sorting the socks out of the tumble dryer or making his bed. He ran up the stairs only to come stamping back down yelling of child abuse. He had thought that "making his bed" meant pulling his duvet straight rather than remaking the bed with washed bedding. just before his 16th birthday!I'm a Forum Ambassador on the housing, mortgages & student money saving boards.
