RM have screwed up the letter I sent a couple of weeks ago, thinking of re-sending the letter Mon/Tues. Question is, do I give Natwest more time considering they won't be receiving the letter over 3 weeks after they wrote to me?

If I do give them more time how much more time do I give them and how do I extend it?

    Thanks

    Hiya

What do you mean RM have screwed up? Why/how?

Yea send it again recorded if it has not been received, don't worry about the fact it's 3 weeks old - they are still wrong however you look at it :D:D

I had sent the letter recorded delivery and they have failed to deliver so far and they haven't got a clue where the letter is.

Will just re-send the letter as advised.

    Thanks a lot mate

    Hey,

I have just received the PPI offer and was wondering if someone can help me with some calculations please.

RBS are not admitting liability and offering the refund on a basis that it is a gesture of goodwill. The offer is for £382.56

A bit of the background on the loan from page 1

    Loan amount: £2,000
    APR: 24.28%
    Term: 36 months
    Monthly repayments: £95.03

    Repaid early after 1 year.
    Early settlement: £1,734.99

    Total repaid: = (£95.03*12)+£1,734.99 = £2,875.35

Now if they offering £382.56, I paid a grand total of £2,492.79 including interest and early repayment penalty (if any) which just seems a bit excessive.

I was expecting the PPI repayment to be closer to c£450 plus the interest on it which they seem to have totally ignored.

I tried calling them and they said because it is a goodwill gesture they do not have to provide a breakdown or pay interest. Question is, should I bother fighting it with FOS for an extra £100 or just bite the bullet?

    Thanks

I'd be taking the £400 myself, its not that much and the stress and wait (could take months) really isn't worth the hassle..... what was the PPi premium amount, a SAR would confirm this to you. :p

    Thanks ROMM
how much was the ppi premuim

    I am not sure
when did the loan run from

The loan was suppose to run from 31/03/2008 till 31/03/2011 (a 3 year loan). However, I settled this in full on 9th April 2009. I had paid 12 equal installments of £95.03 and final settlement of £1,734.99
was there a rebate upon early settlement for the ppi element
    cheers

The offer letter claims that the rebate upon settlement was £203.16

If you need any more information then please let me kno.

    Thanks

Yeah that's what was going to do. As my understanding is that the offer is valid for 6 months as the letter says "Should you decide to refer your complaint to Financial Ombudsman Service (FOS) it is a requiement that you do so within six months from the date of this letter. This offer will remain available to you until the option to complain to the FOS has expired"

Hopefully the SAR should crop up soon enough

Look at the original loan agreement and that will confirm the amount of PPI - bear in mind you get this from your copy or the SAR copy of agreement, s.78 (CCA Request) does not apply being you've cleared the account and it's paid off. :D
