I've found a lot of the time it depends on what forum or board of a forum it's started on:
I posted a thread on 3 different forums. On one of them, I got accused of doing what I did for attention and on the other 2, I got some useful advice. I believe I asked the question on here (it wasn't a new thread though) and did get some nice replies.

    Thanks for the replys.

Patchworkcat..sorry i wasn't aware i was limited to the number of posts i could do? really if you are sat counting them then you need to get out more! At the end of the day does it matter how many i put..the fact is there is always some moron who will pick and set the other morons off.
People could just answer nicely (whether i agree or not) or just ignore (like i do with some)..couldn't they?

Very good point there - some areas of this forum are more friendly than others.

I couldn't possibly comment on which areas are the scary ones..lol ;)

  • one thing i have noticed....

something gets posted on this bit of the board and answered quite sensibly and then some *helpful* board guide moves it to the arms and you can see the line...

you can feel an immediate change in the atmosphere and the answers suddenly start getting aggressive and stroppy like they are baiting you for a fight,
i find a lot of people avoid the bottom of the board for this very reason and it can be annoying that a perfectly good thread gets ruined by moving it down there

EDITED TO ADD - sorry louise...posted at the same time as you and im obviously not scared to point a finger at the scary! lol

I was not unpleasant just merely stating a fact. Calling people morons is not exactly conducive to people being pleasant now is it. I was pointing out that if you start a lot of threads you leave yourself open, it also comes across as selfish. But hey you asked for opinions, as usual, if you don't like them then don't ask .

You asked why do people get nasty at me and say that you have self analysed. However perhaps instead of the self-castigation you should re read your posts as they are very aggressive and also think about the fact that you do start a lot of threads about your issues, but offer help to others a lot less.

I think you have just established why you may receive unpleasant replies - you get back what you give out!
    Gone ... or have I?

You don't need to sit counting posts to make a quick calculation of your statistics. Your profile shows you have start 300 threads in the last 12 months.

This is more than 10% of your total posts.

I also note you've been a member of the forum since 2006 so who knows what the real figure is as the forum only records the last 300!

That is actually an amazing amount! Just looked at my stats and I've started just 17 threads in the last 12mths ;)
