So have you booked your ticket, and if so, where to? Perhaps you could commute between the two?

Right back where we started from
Hustlers grab your guns
Your shadow weighs a ton
Driving down the 101
California here we come

California!
Here we come!
On the stereo
Listen as we go
Nothings gonna stop me now
California here we come
Right back where we started from
Pedal to the floor
Thinkin of the roar
Gotta get us to the show

Outlaw, have you ever been to any part of the US yet?
My thoughts, book your return flight, you do know you won't get through Immigration without a return ticket don't you, get over, travel and see whats happening, feel the vibe, make enquiries, see how the land lies for work.
The boring bit; don't forget the US is in recession and the service industry has been particularly hit hard. I mention the service industry because this is usually where young, non professional people find work, when travelling.
If you have the spirit for adventure then go for it, I did, I lived and worked in an area of the US for 2 years.
It was the best time of my life for many reasons but I worked very hard (as a waitress), most days 12 to 14 hours at work. One day off a week, no real time for partying, I was too tired.
Americans have a strong work hard/play hard ethic. They are also fiercely patriotic and protective of their job industry, you will need to stand out. I made a very good living but it all ended almost overnight when I had to return to the UK for medical treatment. I didn't have the healthcare that I needed to have the treatment in the US.
Just a cautionary tale.
BTW I haven't been to Miami but have to California, well LA....it was horrible, hated it, left as soon as we could and vowed never to go back.
Good luck and keep us posted with your decision.DFW Nerd 267. DEBT FREE 11.06.08

This is a strange thread. I cant get my head round the OP obsession with nightlife and the fact it seems that wherever has the best..that is where he wants to emigrate to.
The people you have slated have made some very valid points but it seems you only want people to post who agree that its a good idea to emigrate without ever having stepped foot in the country!!!!!
I have been all round the West coast and to Florida, I would choose the california, because i would be close to the Vegas nightlife:j:j:j0 -
Right'o last post from me.
You came on here asking for advice regarding emigration and some salient question were asked ie what do you do for a living, have you experienced the places you would like to move to what are the reasons for that particular location but your answers just highlighted that fact you havent got a clue.
When people gave you answers you didnt like you start throwing your toys out the pram maybe you were'nt after advice you actually wanted affirmation for your idea.
You have fallen into the holiday trap, even though you havent been to these places, where by someone goes on holiday and decides "wow I could live here" of course the reality is when you live somewhere you have to work and pay bills and very quickly partying/clubbing become a distant memory , just like having kids really
On a personal level I am qualified to advise/have an input on this subject because ive been there and done that, and have a brother who lives out of a rucksack and yet despite being a teacher he struggles to find work abroad. Add to that I know more about immigration entry clearance than a lot of people on this forum.
However if you want to go for it then do it prove us all wrong, personally I cant be bothered wasting anymore time answering your childish ramblings.Live each day like its your last because one day you'll be right0 -
Phatbear, incapup and dmg24 I'd rather if you could please not get involved in this thread anymore. I don't wanna be involved in stuff with you 3 constantly where its like negative stuff....
Sorry but this is a public forum.
I would have thought that any mature individual serious about living and working in another country would be more concerned with asking questions regarding, for example, immigration requirements, employment opportunities, affordable housing and healthcare.
IMHO of course.
Sorry if thats like negative stuff (I feel the urge to add 'man' to the end of that statement but I shall refrain

Miami or California ??????? For me, or others who would be interested in making an informed choice, it would be an interesting and stimulating thread.
Unfortunately for you OP, whatever choice you make, I can see it all ending in tears **
** but I would be delighted to hear what a success you made of yourself in the US, in a couple of years time, and prove all of us tired old cynics wrong.0 -
