No spare wheel in your new car?

Mine sat in a cradle under the car which could easily be bounced out (and it was, twice )
not a ford, but the manufacturer offered a special security device to stop it from happening again - in exchange for £150!!! :mad:I was born too late, into a world that doesn't care

How naive!
Well why not include them in the price of the car now like they`ve always been.
The only one who`s naive is you if you believe the car makers that not having a spare is far better for you.0 -
Loads of new cars come with a can of gunk in lieu of a spare. It's the purchasers responsibility to ask questions, look in the brochure or check under the boot mat.
I won't buy a car with a can of gunk, at a bare minimum a spacesaver is better, but I'd want at least a steel spare so that I can continue the journey. The man without a signature.0 -

Because people are demanding cheaper cars?
Pretty obvious really. You know, you can still buy a spare separately if you really want one?"There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. Well, sadly they are not getting cheaper cars, prices have risen dramatically in the past year.
It is all about greed on the part of manufacturers.0 -
My new Kia Picanto 1 came with a space saver spare. Strangely enough, the higher spec versions of my car came with gunk rather than the space saver spare. There's a Kia dealer selling full size spares complete with tool kit (jack, etc) for £98 a pop on ebay! Personally, I think that's a rip off.In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Clearly there are other much bigger factors in determining car prices. No doubt the removal of spare wheels has mitigated at least a small proportion of the price rises. In a competitive market (and cars are certainly a competitive market) companies don't normally like to make their products any more expensive than they have to be."There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. How can it possibly be a rip-off if the price is clearly stated upfront?"There may be a legal obligation to obey, but there will be no moral obligation to obey. I think that's cheap! A full sized steel spare from my Vauxhall dealer was £100, £70 for a new tyre, and the jack and tool kit are likely to be around £25 each from a dealer.
The eBay dealer is selling a wheel, tyre, jack and toolkit.
Edit: Just realised that the supplying dealer is called Viking Garages.Nothing to do with me!

Only about 15 references to the spare wheel, the fact it doesn't have one and one is available as an option.
How many times would be useful?0
