So two wrongs make a right then do they? Just because he broke one of the vows that gives you the right to break another?

and no not touched a raw nerve, i do think that what he did was disgusting but it doesn'tmean that his parents should be the ones that suffer does it, even if she is like pauline fowler

cleanyspringy - i think that you should grab anything that comes your way, it isn't easy starting over - my ex left me with nowt but a child to support and years later still hasn't paid a penny, or isited his daughter (but i get my lovely girl who is priceless), they are probably paying it to help their son on the road to not being married anymore, take it as a gift, and stick to that line of thinking. Good luck in your new (and less indebted) life.

*Pauline fowler* made her own decision to pay the loans off to the tune of 20-odd grand. Without asking cleany if she wanted to be part of the plan. I dont understand what the problem is here

The only thing I can think of is that you are envious.

To be entirely honest if I did the dirty on my beloved , I know my folks would pay him out of it out of guilt for bringing up a child who is such utter scum. But there you are.
 Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
    This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast

it doesn’t matter why they did it, at the end of the day they shouldn't have stuck their bloody noses in somebody else’s business!

But since they have, it’s their problem, not yours :)

and i amnot sure if cleany didn't know about them as she says the parents wrote down saying they would repay themso hardly without her consent (post 4i think)

Cleany has also said that he's left her with £35000 of debt (excluding the £20 odd grand paid by his parents)....I'd say he's got off lightly..... he still owes!

In my experience...those who stray think they are perfectly entitled to walk all over the ex-OH...........they conveniently forget it was THEM who did the dirty...yet its the ex-OH who gets the blame for everything...

Anyway, as I said......if he/they come after cleany for half the debt...which I doubt that they can/will...for reasons given.....I am sure she will have proof of who's debt is who's...and if it was 50/50...then like I said...he still owes her.............and his parents......
  • If they didn't ask you to sign anything to pay the money back in future I don't think theres much they can do. Maybe your ex is going to pay them back..maybe he told them your total debts were about 40K so they paid 'his' half off??
If you don't have any children maybe they thought it would end things more quickly between you if his debt was paid (it depends a lot on what he has told them).
£35K is a lot of money but maybe you are now actually better off? if not financially.
Was the house rented - or is it to be sold?
