Ok - My soon to be ex-inlaws have repaid 2 joint loans with my soon to be ex-husband. :rotfl:
They total £23,000.
Now they didnt obtain my written permission to pay these off they just have.
Where do I stand on this - do they have any writes to claim this back off me or can I just tell them (mother-inlaw in particular) to get lost!!:rotfl: :rotfl:

I think they would struggle to reclaim from you
reason 1 ) its effectively a small claim court issue which the top limit of claiming is 5k
reason 2) you didnt force them to do it, theyd have to prove that they had reasonable expectations you would pay them back.
Sounds as if youve done OK there? Well aint funny how its the little things in life that mean the most? Not where you live, the car you drive or the price tag on your clothes.
Theres no dollar sign on piece of mind
This Ive come to know...
So if you agree have a drink with me, raise your glasses for a toast :beer:0 -

i think thats a disgraceful attitude, it may not have been written but most likely still a verbal loan.
i know that ur ex cheated on u but ur getting of scott free, and u'll probably sting him for alot ofother items
disgraceful

Not sure if we can really make those judgements, we don't really know the whole story so I thikn it's a bit unfair to slate the OP when they after advice.
EDIT: Blimey, my spelling and grammar are disgraceful! I have an IQ of 127, honest! Was debt free... then went travelling!0 -

I disagree.
These were joint loans and the in laws paid them off to help their son.
I think cleanspringy has every right to feel the way she does....he cheated, not her.Is it better to aim for the stars and hit a tree or aim for a tree and land in its branches :think:Loves being a Wonderbra friend :kisses3:

the way i see it is that in marriage that the saying
'whats mine is yours and yours is mine' and inclusive of debts, it doesn't matter whether he cheated on ur or not the debts shud be split down the middle so if he is getting of lightly then that is not right either!
i'm sorry but when u said muppet it sounded like you were out to get what you could.
