Glam, I'm interested in the "pour small amounts of water over the face" suggestion - we don't have a bath here, so I already take Andrew into the shower in my arms, and he doesn't mind the sensation of water flowing over his face at all.

Keira was hollering about being hungry so made her a tuna sandwich, she has eaten about a quarter of it and she is "full" but can she have some ice cream now? NO. How about some chocolate milkshake? NO.

Tigs - babies up until approx 12 months old have a dive reflex that automatically closes their airways in water.
At the lessons Katie has we were taught Name, ready, go (dunking/splashing on the go)
She is 3 in a couple of weeks and can swim about 10ft on her own - no buoyancy aids of any kind and submerged. She's currently learning how to dive to!
Evening everyone - have caught up but not retained any of it.
DH has finally realised that Katie doesn't need an afternoon sleep after her still being up at 10pm last night after a sleep from 4-5pm yesterday, whereas today, no nap and out for the count by 7.50pm!Proud to be dealing with my debts

Tigs - when we went to swimming 'lessons' (they help you with the babies if you want them too or they just let you splash with them if you want) we ended up in armbands because the floaty seats didn't allow Benjamin enough access to the water and he kept trying to throw himself away from me!!
We don't dunk (because I am not sure what the point of it is unless you are progressing to free-swimming) but I do always make sure he gets water splashed on his face and over his head so he is not afraid of it.
Just be aware that the pools at some complexes may simply be too cold to keep babba in for long.
Carla - do you get in the bath with him? Benjamin is much more confident if one of us jumps in with him.
And tonight Benjamin said very clearly
'SPLASH SPLASH'
which is what we call a bath!! Hubby said 'shall we go for a splash splash and Benjamin said 'Splash splash' and headed towards the door YAY!!please listen to MFD - she is a wise womanProud Mummy to the gorgeous Benjamin John born 14 March 2009, 8lbs 14ozA new little seedling on the way, due 30 September 20120 -

At our swimming lessons its 1-2-3 water. So you get a cup of water on 3 its over babys back, on 3 over mums head on 3 over babys head.
When we're chasing ducks its 1-2-3 mum blow bubbles at baby.
When they get more used to the water it bob in and out on 1-2-3 and on three they dunk.
Its always the 1-2-3 like a mantra so they begin to expect something on 3.
Many any sense whatsoever????!!!!!0 -
What MDW said is what NMS told me about the lessons: Name, ready, go *splash/dunk*. She said they start with a splash, then a cup of water, then a pitcher of water & then dunking. Not sure how much you need to do each stage before progressing, though.top 2013 wins: iPad, £50 dental care, £50 sportswear, £50 Nectar GC, £300 B&Q GC; jewellery, Bumbo, 12xPringles, 2xDiesel EDT, £25 Morrisons, £50 Loch Fyne

They're gonna show a breast reduction surgery, will it make you cringe, Glam?
Dunking sounds scary!
ooooooooooooooo whats it on?
My TV has been taken over for the night so wondering if I can watch it t'internet!
I did watch one once when they did a booby show on BBC 3 and nearly puked. It was more how rough they are - they were rubbing iodine over the boobs and i was like  my poor boobies! That was the easy bit :rotfl:
They proceeded to cut me, remove tissues, remove my nipples, reattach them then stitch me back - and i went through it TWICE!!!! :rotfl:Tigsteroonie wrote: »Glam, I'm interested in the "pour small amounts of water over the face" suggestion - we don't have a bath here, so I already take Andrew into the shower in my arms, and he doesn't mind the sensation of water flowing over his face at all.

MFD - we just have to mention the word bath or shower in front of Katie and she drops everything to head for the bathroom - she was overjoyed tonight as she had a joint shower with mummy she loves 'helping' to wash my hair.Proud to be dealing with my debts
