    I need some breastfeeding advice!

Amber must have changed her latch, and i've tried all the odd positions etc, and tbh she doesn't look to be doing anything differently.

But anyway it's not like i'm in mega pain or anything, but it's a similar feeling to the "sucking-dry" thing that Sami mentioned last week, except it's mostly in the nipple-end.

Sometimes i've noticed that when she has just been feeding, the tip of my nipple is white and i have to squeeze it to get it back to pink, otherwise it stays white. That's a sign of incorrect latch isn't it?

Also, now when i wake up on a morning my boobs are full, but as soon as she's had her first 2 feeds and empties both sides, i never seem to fill up as much as i used to. The BF woman at Surestart said that's because the milk is 'richer' than it was so there's less of it?? But she's just feeding constantly on an evening.

I bought a carton of milk today and she's guzzled the whole lot, just needed to give my poor nips a break.

She's sleeping at night now quite consistently, usually from 11pm til i wake her for school at 8am. (she's not that clever, but the school run :p) Then she sleeps til about 11am after i've finished disturbing her!

That's a definite latch problem... Your nipple is rubbing against the hard palate of her mouth (bend your tongue back, you can feel the difference between the bony part of your hard palate and the soft squidgyness of your soft palate) All your nipple should be against her soft palate which is why you need to make sure she opens her mouth wide and takes a really good mouthfull...

Some information for you here: http://www.kellymom.com/bf/concerns/mom/nipple-blanching.html

Don't worry about your breasts not getting overfull, they're designed not to be full all the while, as Amber is getting older your body is learning how much she needs and making that much for her, whereas in the early days it's making a huge abundance that leaves you full and leaking... When you give her formula, your body will lose that signal that it needs to make milk for that time so do be careful when supplementing feeds if you don't plan to do it long term... Once in a while to give yourself a rest is OK though... Oh, also... The softer the breast, the fattier the milk :)

I was with Dave 3 months when we booked the church... He moved in with me when we got back from honeymoon...

If I'm good enough to live with, I'm good enough to marry ;)

Thanks Krystal, just been thinking and i am pretty sure the white nipple thing never happens on her morning feeds when i'm full, only when i 'feel' empty during the gazillion evening feeds. She's very content through the day but after about 5pm she's a bit twisty and sucks anything in sight, mainly her hands but frantically, in the day she has her hands in her mouth but not as if she's desperately trying to suck? The colic seems to have gone though, and haven't been using the Infacol for weeks now.

krystal to me thats rushing .. my mother and step father got married with in 3 months of knowing each other and it was a nightmare .. living to together is nothing as you get to know the real person before you agree to spend the rest of your life with them .. i dont know if i believe in marriage but i think you stand in front of your family and friends you should at least know everything about them .. not just the last 4 months of weekends x

Has anyone read this?:mad: http://www.news.com.au/world/korean-baby-dies-as-parents-kim-yoo-chul-and-choi-mi-sun-raise-virtual-bub/story-e6frfkyi-1225837180407 Idiots

Was at the dentist today for two fillings :(:( I honestly thought i was gonna pass out. All i kept thinking was OMG this is like torture, giving birth was so much easier - seriously!! I'd give birth 10 times over than have my mouth drilled. And i haven't forgotten the pain of birth yet, it's not been that long!!! Had 2 injections in the front of my mouth and it felt like she was shoving a knife up my nose

It's very common for them to cluster feed at night... Think of it as stocking herself up for the night ahead... If it's possible, just give her a few nights of feeding as frequently as she wants... (I know it's difficult when you've got an older one... Been there...) and like all things baby related... It's just a phase... It does get better... And in the grand scheme of things... This is 5 mins!
