And thinking about it, it's not that we are that well off, but we sort of ran up the property ladder with a lot of hard work and this website makes me stretch his quite good wage into a very good one, IYKWIM!
Good for you. We can only afford our 4 bedroom house because of the area it's in. We never intended to stay here and said we would be happy to downsize to move to a nicer area within a couple of years. However, it's impossible to sell your house at the moment and there are quite a few up for sale so I think we are stuck here for now. It's a decent house and estate but there is nothing else here. It would probably be worth about 5 times it's value if it were in the south of England though! Totally different market here.
Abandoned the DVD idea - didn't realise it was so late. Online [STRIKE]shopping[/STRIKE] browsing instead for a while and then going to bed.0 -

It's exactly the right time to be going up the ladder though, but I've had enough of moving for a few years, hard work with kids. :cool:Too many children, too little time!!!0 -

We bought this house 3 years ago, so just before the market kind of crashed! They were meant to be building a new town centre 5 mins from our house and redeveloping a massive area which used to be a steelworks which would regenerate the area and provide a new college etc. The government put it all on hold though when the recession kicked in, so bang went our expected tidy profit lol. That's the gamble though. Work is actually just starting on it now, but it will take a few years. It's not a really bad area, just empty. We would like to move before H starts school.0
