And in-laws are due right about now to stay for the weekend which is obviously just what i need. Especially as OH won't be in til 6ish tonight and is working 12-8 tomorrow

Plus if she falls asleep in the day it home, it's only on me and she then wakes if i put her down. Maximum i seem to get her to have that way is half an hour to an hour.

Its now a full time job getting her to sleep each day so i don't get to do the things i enjoy with her or that she enjoys. She hardly gets chance to play or do anything that would encourage her to learn. And i get nothing done in the house (or anywhere else for that matter!) Am lucky if i get to put a load of washing in these days.

Have you spoke to your HV? Is she generally healthy/happy putting on weight and stuff?
Feeding every 1-2 hrs sounds like a lot and very draining on you, (no pun intended!).

Agree with Glam, hand her over to IL's and bogger off

Not seen HV for about 3 weeks since her last jabs and she was still ok then. Well, she still hated sleep in day but her nights were great.

She was 10lb8oz last time at 3 months exactly. 7lb 13oz when she was born. Putting weight on but not on the line 'they' would like!

Not the same thing but K really didn't thrive from about 12/13wks he was a miserable wee thing. I seen the HV twice a week tho so even she noticed he wasn't himself. She kept an eye on him for a few weeks then it was decided between us to early wean at 17wks. He was instantly back to his cheery self and on 3 meals a day about 4 days later!

It is hard when everyone else seems to have it easy with the naps and other things and you're left thinking whats wrong with my baby! The most over used saying for babies is 'its just a phase', how does that help?! lol

Maz, I was reading the Dr Ferber sleep book recently (don't agree with all of it) and it said that you should only try for a hour to get LO off to sleep then give up. If she's not sleepy she wont sleep so there is no point trying. Just try looking out for the signs like rubbing her eyes or yawning then try to get her to sleep. Although I can't talk I always feed Erin to sleep! If I want a nap I feed her lying down or I take the time to be on here. I put her in the sling to get jobs done or wait until OH is home to look after her while I do chores.

DO you let her play in her cot/crib Maz? I've found that if they know they can play in there they are more inclined to be happy to be there and eventually nod off. Anytime you go to the loo, pop her in with some toys and that way she learns that it can be fun but she is not trapped there.

Only at nighttime. If she falls asleep in my arms in the day, putting her down anywhere automatically wakes her up. And i've tried everything she could possibly sleep in or on!

Oh well, i finally got her to sleep in her pram and have left her outside with ILs

Thanks for advice everyone. I know there's not much anyone can do but it helps just to rant! And with the early weaning thing, my friend has done that on HV advice but her baby has always been big - 9lb2oz at birth and on hungry baby milk as soon as went on formula at about a month - and with Evie being small, i just presumed she wouldn't be ready early.

I haven't so will try it. But she's never fallen asleep on her own anywhere (and we have tried from early on) so that would be a miracle!
