I'm 33 weeks now and was enjoying every minute (been very fortunate there I know), but had my 32wk check on Friday and midwife says bump's measuring "small for dates" :(
She's referred me for another scan, which is likely to take two weeks. Am trying not to panic, as I hear this is not uncommon, but was hoping others might be able to provide more reassurance.. (midwife didn't provide any!)
I'm only small myself (5'2/5'3) which I assume makes a difference - personally I think I look a fair size, but lots of people have been commenting "Ooh you're tiny for 7 months". I just want everything to be ok :o

    Hello!
Try not to worry. My neighbour was nearly 7 months till she started showing and got referred for extra scans but there is not a problem with the baby - she's REALLY tall, but skinny as a rake and looks like a model  not fair! You can just about tell she's expecting now and she's about 33 weeks. Babies come in all shapes and sizes!
Proud to be dealing with my debts

People keep telling me I'm small too. (Am 27 weeks.) But I was thinner than average to start with so I think I stick out more relative to my "normal" size than people realise. Just because you are smaller than usual doesn't automatically mean that there is anything wrong but they have automatic triggers for all sorts of things where they start doing extra checks. The triggers for extra checks are probably set quite generously so that they don't miss anything which means that the majority of people who have estra checks won't find anything wrong. Even if there is some kind of problem, it may be that they just need to know about it and they can do something about it.

I'm jealous of you all now! I'm 22 weeks and I'm noticeably pregnant now. People in shops keep commenting and asking when I'm due, then looking shocked when I say May :o
Here I go again on my own....

    Congrats - that's lovely news :T
Here I go again on my own....
  • Got back late from Mac unit last night, and after eating some crunchie finally got some movement! (That's what I'll stock up on then!!!!)

Also - finally got some heartburn relief - some antiacid tablets - first full nights sleep for months. Do I feel like a different person today or what?!

LAN - do not try to worry about being small - DD1 my bump was always smaller - but dh and I are not big people, and she was fine. This time I feel huge - but everyone I know thinks I am tiny. They say every pregnancy is different - and every woman carries differently too. Have a look at the pg woman you pass in the street - some have bumps so large you think they're due to "drop" any day soon. A lady next to me last night was huge - and her first - due in a fortnight, but another was due this week was half the size. It's natural for us to worry - we are growing another human inside of us, and you forget what a big deal that is, and try and carry on like you're superwoman! Take it easy, put your feet up, and relax - then the scan will put your mind at rest.:grouphug:
