Hey girls - first day of maternity leave and I'm already planning it around daytime TV - sad huh? Making the most of it though, know it won't be my timetable soon!

I've edited the EDD list as per the suggestion about moving people who are likely to have delivered to another category at the bottom. I hope the title of the category is okay ;)

Just one problem, I'm now 8 from the top - and that's really scary!
I've even left Anne on as she could be late - it makes me feel better!

Off to roll around on my ball now to get this baby to engage!

I'm very pregnant with our 3rd. Two boys already, and we don't know what this one is. My original due date was the 6th Dec this year, but it was moved up to the 30th Nov (on thursday this week) after my 20week scan. I am just soooooo ready to get this baby out, but can't get castor oil, can't eat hot curries and all I was told by the midwife was a snappy barking "what put the baby there in the first place"! Seiously, is there anyone else out there who cannot stand their midwife, or is it just me?
  • :D Thank you Lu I am indeed late allthough it is becomming a bit unfashionable now  It looks like I will have my baby on friday by elective c section I am of to see the consultant tommorow.

I have been really good and have not bought any more babythings as I really do not need them :D.

I am still waiting to hear from the nappie project that my local council does they have a free trial with cloth nappies whre you get them for 2 weeks to see which ones you like and then you can get a discount if you buy them through them they did contact me before but as baby was not born yet I was put back on the list now I have to see how heavy baby is first as otherwise I will still not be able to use them.

Maow it is a shame to hear about your mw mine is lovely i could not have asked for a better one the only good thing is that it is not long now!!!

Whoa! Just realised that I'd be 2nd on that list! Scary, but good. Scary as I know what I am about to go through, and good because I want to have my baby to cuddle - no hurry, really - yesterday or the day before is fine! LOL

Hope you don't mind me cheekily adding myself. I've been to see the doctor at last who estimated my DD as 'the end of July' so it'll have to be my own calculated date of July 30th (it seems most online date calculators can agree on this at least!). That makes me 5 weeks gone with my first - massively excited, still in shock (teensy bit unplanned) and absolutely terrified of A) telling my boss and B) getting this thing out at the end of it!

Edited to add - if anyone at a similar stage wants to chum up for moral support, PM me - I need all the hand-holding I can get!

Hi Eels - you're not cheeky, adding yourself is exactly what you're meant to do.

Have to say, I saw the nurse at my doctor's surgery first and she was rubbish. Things should get a lot better once you're in the capable hands of a midwife.

Mine is also lovely, feel awful for anyone who doesn't get on with theirs, she has been such a support for me.

I was also completely terrified when we found out at 5 weeks. It was planned, but we hadn't thought it would only take 10 days! It wears off, don't worry.

As for work, when you're a little further on and bit more comfortable with the idea, perhaps you could have a quiet word with a mum you work with who has already told the boss, or speak to HR first for a bit of moral?

Don't worry too much, once the shock wears off it really can be a great experience. I realised last night that I'm actually looking forward to being in labour :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . Hubby thinks I'm insane, reckon I probably am, but at least we'd know the end is in sight! First full day of maternity leave today and already daytime tv is driving me mad!

:rotfl: Wait until you get hours of cbeebies or nickJr driving you up the wall!!! But yes, pregnancy and labour can be a great and wonderful experience! I have loved nearly every minute of my three pregnancies, apart from being very sick the last couple of months with the last one, and the midwife appointments with this one. I'm also really looking forward to going into labour, and it's not only because I want this baby out so I can actually turn around in bed again, and give my husband proper hugs (and other x-rated things that can get tricky with a great big bump:o ), but I see it as excellent quality time with my husband who has been a wonderful birthing partner both times.:T I mean, at what other time in life do I get to enjoy that kind of attention? Where absolutely everything in that room at the time revolves around me, and I get his full and complete focus and attention?:D Yay! Bring on labour, and long may it last - just not too long, it is hard work, but the result is good.

Until bubs is born and then you end up getting completely abandoned in favour of the new arrival. And yes this happened to me 2 weeks ago.
Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Lily contracted Strep B Meningitis Dec 2006  Now seemingly a normal little monster.
Love to my two angels that I will never forget.

I consider myself lucky to have my DH the way he is. He was wonderful the last two times, and couldn't do enough to help out. When DS2 was born, he took the eldest one round to the grandparents so I could have some rest (we usually go and see them every single saturday), he did (and still does:A ) loads of housework - he does most of the washing and drying, he does the hoovering and emptying the dishwasher, so I get more time to spend with the boys and him. It's all those little things that make me appreciate him that much, and he really is a big help, not just on labour day, but after as well - doing things around the house so I can rest, taking care of feedings (for all of them) and changings, bedtime routines etc. I could go on, but then I think I'll end up making myself sick...:rotfl:
