  • So sorry to hear about your dog. I grieved more for our dogs than for my paternal grandparents and my favourite aunt: I was closer to them, especially my own dog. Yet I wouldn't have gone without them for the world, no matter how painful their deaths have been for me. The love and joy they brought to my life outbalances the sadness of their loss.

Re getting another dog — it's different for everyone and there is no right answer. I knew I would get another dog when mine died, but I didn't plan on it happening as quickly as it did — I had found my current dog advertised online the day after, on what should have been my old dog's 10th birthday and brought him home exactly a month after her death. My parents, on the other hand, had no plans to get another dog when my dad's GSD died last April, but my mum is now thinking about getting the first dog of her own (my dad has had 3 dogs, one still with us and I've had 2). There's no hurry to make a decision and I believe that when you are ready, the perfect dog for you will be available; it doesn't matter if you find each other within days or decades.

    Evening Diary,

Had a busy day not long sat down! Took girls to a party today, came home and cooked KFC and lasagne, cleaned the washing machine, fixed DD1s school bag and did a bit of sewing for DD2s beavers jumper.

Weather still pants so had to put the bedding in the TD. Looks same this week so no point in putting off washing to wait for the nicer days!

ABA, thanks for your post. You're totally right and a friend has already pointed out that the joy you get totally outweighs the end part but its just a bit too raw at the moment. Plus were going away a couple of times before the new year too so I think were best off waiting.

So back to work tomorrow.... boooooo! These weekends just go too fast for my liking! Only 10 more days to work though :T

    Hope all ok anyway xx

Sorry to hear your weather has been pants. It's been glorious here today, sunshine and very warm. Yesterday it rained first thing but then sunny and windy so got loads of washing dry. Weird isn't it?
