  • Afternoon Diary,

Since my morning laziness I have pulled my finger out a bit... after a little short stint back in bed :rotfl:. Done the dishwasher, sorted some pinks to go in the machine, hoovered 2 floors and wiped round the bathrooms and bleached the toilets.

DH is on with some DIY... this never goes smoothly where he is concerned although my new clock we bought yesterday in ikea looks nice in the kitchen :D.

He did something with one our light switches downstairs which created lots of nice words! Luckily the kids were playing out. He's now gone to a DIY shop for more of the expensive screws we bought yesterday as they weren't long enough but cost £12 :mad:. These ones are a fraction of the cost which is good! He's on with the bathroom cabinets now

Ive joined the grocery challenge to keep a track of my spends. Ive also remembered I've got £10 match and more vouchers to use in the my inbox too so one of my shops will be with Mr M's.

    Think thats it! xx

  • Just done my meter readings... £108 used in the past month. I still think this is quite high as its been quite 'warm' outside but I suppose we have been here for 2 weeks using more electricity. I am now £80 in credit going into January. SP wanted to reduce my DD to £81 but I've declined it and kept it at £105.

Right that really is all from me! My sister is arriving about 6pm so need to finish off the bits for my curry and finish tidying the bathroom but can't do this until DH comes back and finishes the cabinet.

Hope everyone enjoys their evening and will catch up tomorrow xx

  • Hi mtg, Happy New Year's Eve!!

Sounds like you've had a busy time even though you were going to relax, I can't believe how ridiculous people are when they're out shopping luckily my shopping centre is only a couple of minutes walk so no need for car unless doing weekly shop.

Great news on the purchases, even one little thing can make a difference in a room.

I hope your throat is a bit better, curry sounds good for tonight we made one last night with homemade chapatis which were so easy and tasty!

Have a lovely night and enjoy your remaining few days.

  • Im still here comparing bills! Its gone up £7 in the past month so I don't think thats too bad considering.

I know Chrysalis, thats me all over I can't sit still for too long. Ohhhh how do you make HM chapatis? Weve bought some from Mr A's but would love to have a go at them in the future. This curry I'm making is a pampered ch3f recipe. I would never spend that amount on those things but the recipe is very nice! My friend made it for me the other week, I hope my attempt turns out as well as hers ha! Enjoy your night, whatever you may be up to.

Right I am going now! xx

  • Chapatis are:

    6oz wholemeal flour
    1/2 tsp salt
    100-120ml water
1tsp vegetable oil (I used olive oil)
melted butter for brushing but I used a little bit when frying them off.

Sift flour and salt into bowl, add water and mix to soft dough, add oil and knead for 5-6 mins. Leave in bowl with damp dish towel over for 1/2 hour. Shape into 6 equal balls then roll out on floured surface. Cook in a heated frying pan with a little butter for up to a minute each side (almost like a pancake).

    Enjoy!!

    Honestly really easy and yummy.

    Morning Diary,

Happy New Year to you all!!!

We enjoyed a lovely meal with my sister, BIL and nephew and once nephew was in bed we played some games with our girls. They left around 10.30 and then DH and I stayed up for the fireworks but were asleep not long after! Was rudely awoken at 2pm by the neighbours daughter shouting to get in the house... I do wonder who would go out without a key sometimes as this isn't the first time this has happened. Felt like I was never going to get back to sleep!!

Its so cold here today the temperature has really dropped here and I think we might end up with some snow next week .

So today DH continues with his DIY! I am going to take down the Christmas tree and get the house back in order.

Tonights tea is chicken kievs, roast potatoes and veg using up whats in the fridge.

Today should be NSD1, will update later!!

Hope everyone enjoyed their evening and thanks for the recipe Chrysalis, will try that next time xx

Happy New Year MTG! Great news about paying half your debt off. I think you need to keep looking back or you forget what you've achieved. Funny you should mention the Shellac as I've been having mine done for the past year now but just recently it's been chipping after a few days and so I've decided to give my nails a rest and save some money by doing them myself. I bought some a nail strengthener and varnish set from QVC, polish is meant to be like a gel and 2 strengtheners and 3 varnishes cost me just £5 more than it would cost me for one Shellac appointment. I'll give it a go anyway and just have Shellac for holidays for the time being.

Hope 2016 is a good year for you.

    Afternoon Diary,

Thank you DF0D and SA. SA I only ever have my shellac done max 3 times in a row as its start peeling really soon after having them done if I push it further. The beautician confirmed to me once that this is quite common. You will probably get your money's worth out of the set you bought over the year.

So I've de-trimmed the house.. as always the living room just looks bare. Ive had a quick hoover round and will do the bathrooms tomorrow.

Today has been NSD1 of the year.. didn't want to jinx it earlier with DH doing his DIY :rotfl:.

Just cooking tea and looking forward to a chilled out evening. My friend who is more like family is coming round tonight. She's hanging from last night so needs a quiet night ha!

The kids haven't even asked to get dressed so they are still hanging round in their PJ's. They can have a bath and new pjs after tea.

Oh another great moment today... I got to the bottom of the laundry basket! Im sure that will be short lived though as DH has just been for a shower so his DIY clothes will be in there and then the kids PJ's... ahh well for half a day at least.

    Thats all from me xx
