I feel your pain
, My hubby is currently staring at our boiler manual as ours has packed up too. Its only just over a year old, but is dead as a dodo.
Soooo annoying. Hope ours is only £67 to fix. Fingers crossed. Still mucks up the finely tuned budget though.
Kind of MIL to pay for the flooring though. xx0 -
Hi mummy,
What a pain re the boiler, hope OHs friend gets it sorted. We are currently without a shower until OH goes to plumbers merchants tomorrow, not sure of the cost at the moment (not too much I hope), nowhere near as essential as a boiler but I feel your pain, just when we get on the straight and narrow these blooming things come to try us!!! Keep your chin up.

Morning Diary,
Hello all, thank you for your kind replies. It was kind of MIL and tbh if she didnt offer we wouldnt be able to do it as DH would never ever put anything on his credit card unless it was like a life or death situation! I might think flooring was, he certainly wouldnt haha!!!
Well it is fixed, finally at 6pm they worked out what was going on with it. We need to give his friend some money for doing it but we dont know how much and he hasnt said how much he wants.
Sorry others are having boiler and shower trouble too.
Oh I meant to say a friend told me to look in my insurance policy to see if im covered for things like this. Well apparently I am covered for home emergency as part of the plan but its not one that you pay extra for and its only covered up to £150.
I rung them to make a claim and then the plumbers rung back the earliest they could come out was today which isnt acceptable with 2 young children. So I am going to write to my insurance company and ask them to cover the repairs. Might aswell for the price of a stamp.
So the annual letter from $un holidays has popped through the letterbox this morning. Im going to do it this year for a little break around April time. Me and the kids have been on the site choosing where we would like to go!! No budget for this, it will come out of the debt overpayments, im so desperate for a break. Plus its only usually about £100 all in and thats when you upgrade!!
Right best go get dressed. DH is just sorted the skirting boards out and then he mentioned about us going for the flooring. Im going to ring MIL in a minute and run this by her. I have DD's party money in the account so I can pay it from that and transfer it back in later.
Then I need to pop to Mr T's and get some shopping, busy day!!!
Hope everyone has a nice day xxMummytogirls x0 -
Hi Mummy
A belated Happy Christmas to you xx
Oh no to the boiler breaking, but its great that you managed to get it fixed. Ours died in March this year and had to be replaced, not a good 2 weeks whilst waiting for the plumber to fit us in to fit the new one.
Your kitchen sounds lovely, hope you managed to get the flooring sorted.
Have a good New Year, Choo xx0 -
Morning Diary,
Just popping in for a quick catch up. Were having problems with the bl00dy boiler again, no heating since last night . Luckily something has been fixed the other day on the water tank so the emersion 'should' heat the water. We will see when I get a shower in a bit!
Another thing.. we went out and bought the flooring Saturday with the money MIL lent us, well after DH had fit it yesterday it ripped a bit whilst we were bringing the fridge back in ! I just cannot believe the bad luck where money is concerned we are having at the minute.
So ive googled the boiler problem and it could be a number of things including the flue. Now we do know that when the boiler was moved the flue is sticking out too much and needs to be replaced with a smaller one. We never got round to this so im now wondering if this is causing the problem.
So today, I need to go to Mr T's as ive been putting it off since Friday. Its absolutely p!ssing it down and blowing a gale so dont really fancy going out tbh.
Weve got some friends over tonight, not sure they will stay now with the heating situation but theyve said they are still coming.
Ive just put a joint of beef in the oven and the chicken will go in later.
The rest of the day will be spent getting the house in order for them getting here.
So this all has really taught me the importance of an emergency fund and we really need to pull our fingers out and save something rather than spending everything!
Hi Choo, lovely to hear from you! No its not been a good week for us, although we have had some heating and water!
Right think thats all from me. Hope everyone has a lovely New Years Eve.
Heres to 2013 xxMummytogirls x0 -
Hi Mummy,
Our boilers is still dead too. We are currently living off the Wood burner for any heat. Do you have a fire or any extra heaters?.
I am glad I read your post as it reminded me to switch on my immersion heater as I need a shower later.
Hope your friends still stay and you have a good time. Happy New Year.

Hi mummy
Sorry to hear you are still having problems with the boiler and about the tear in the flooring. Is it under the fridge so you can't see it?
I hope that you still have a great night with friends and here's  to a great 2013.xxDMP with CCCS started Jan12 £34,906 Jan13 £31,893 Jan14 £26,836 Jan15 £21,894 Jan16 £16,839 Jan17 £14,415 Jan19 £12,938ish Jan19 £9,649 Jan20 £6612 Feb 21 0 Self managed from Jan'17

Afternoon Diary,
Happy New Year everyone, welcome to 2013!!!
Hope everyone had a lovely night, we had our friends round and I did not touch a drop of alcohol purely because I was absolutely stuffed full of food! I had eaten chicken, beef, veg, potatoes, yorkshire puddings and stuffing followed by our friends hm golden syrup cake and custard which totally pushed me over the edge!
It was nice to see the them and the kids all played lovely.
We went to bed at about 12.30 and DD2 came in at 1am asking if it was time to get up! Queue the worst nights sleep in a long time!!
Anyway the boiler is fixed again! We have finally worked out its a blocked condensator pipe so theyve done a work around until next weekend when he can come back and sort it properly. At least we know what it is now. I did go and buy some heaters from Argos so I might take one back but keep the other as a backup.
So today we all got up and had breakfast and then after our friends had gone home we went out for a walk. The only day we have managed to do it a) because the weather has been pants and b) because weve been so wrapped up in getting the kitchen finished. DD's played out a few days though so at least they had fresh air.
Came home, had a nice bacon sandwich for lunch and weve just had a visit from my Dad.
Tonights tea will be easy tea of pasta bake and garlic bread.. something simple after a week of binging. Need to get back into normally and not eating anything I fancy!
So now my attentions are turning to DD2's 4th birthday which so happens to be 2 weeks today. I cant get a straight answer as to what she wants so I am just going to buy her stuff she likes like trainers and jeans with a few toys thrown in. Shes a really difficult child to buy for.
I will probably walk into town over the next few lunch times in search of bargains.
Steph, hope your boiler is fixed soon!
Alice, no its right in the doorway so you can see it as soon as you walk in. Well only when you know its there.
Im actually wasting some time on here now as I know if I stop I will fall asleep which I really need to avoid if I want to sleep tonight. After here will potter around the house and have a bath after tea.. then it doesnt matter if I fall asleep!!
Kids are not back at school until Monday lucky things.
NSD1 today, need to write it in my filofax.
Think thats all from me! Hope everyone is ok xxMummytogirls x0 -
Happy New Year! Glad you had a good one!
I see similarities with a rubbish nights sleep due to little ones, and also with the birthday dilema. DS2's 3rd bday is a few days after your DD2's 4th birthday. It's hard when they just got everything they wanted for Christmas isn't it?! I've asked everyone just to buy him a token gift to unwrap and to put money in his savings account so he can get things throughout the year if he wants anything.Debts @ LBM £23,729.31. Evening Diary,
Just popping in for a quick catch up.
First day back at work... done! Horrendous if im honest, had internet and phone problems until about 2.30 argh! So I hardly got anything done!!
Came home had a quick tea of omelette, chips and beans which was delicious after a week of indulgence!!
Today was a spend day as I have made a start on DD2's presents. So far ive bought her a little bath gift set from Boots reduced to £4 :money:. Some Nike trainers and a Jake and the Neverland pirates telescope she eyes up every time we go in the Disney store.
I have done 2 dark wash loads and ironed everything that came off the radiators up until yesterday. So quite a productive day all in all.
Ive also just updated the finances as I had no clue what was going out etc.
PLMBL, hope you had a better nights sleep last night, I was up at 3am coughing grrrr!! Shattered right now!
Think thats all from me, hope everyones ok xxMummytogirls x0
