  • Hi Steph,

Im glad youve found me :D! Yes it was 2 years ago since DH found out. Id been on maternity leave twice and got into debt but darent tell him as I knew he wouldnt be happy. All got too much and I told him... only after barclaycard starting texting so he was bound to find out. Best thing I ever did to be honest.

So this morning ive been to DD2's open day, they are such little cuties and my heart melted with their singing! We made loads of nice things too.

    xx

  • Evening Diary,

Cant believe its Saturday evening already!

DH and I had an absolute ball last night! The food for lovely, the hotel stay was sooooo nice and the bed was so comfy. I dont often think a hotel bed is anywhere like mine at home, but this was. You know what hotel breakfasts are usually like, well this was gorgeous.
They had so much choice it was unbelievable! Even crumpets which I have never seen on a hotel breakfast menu before! We stole some pain au chocolate for the kids :rotfl:!!!

DH agreed that we do not do this kind of thing enough, even if its just once every 6 months or something we should make the most of things like this.

All weve done is lay about on the sofas all day! The house it a total tip but DH has said he will take both girls to the swimming lesson tomorrow if I clean up... thats fine by me... I have made a tiny dent in it tonight by putting some washing in :).

So tomorrow we have a Christening in the afternoon, so thats something to do I suppose. I havent even bought them cards or anything yet!! Gosh I am so blooming unorganised lately.

Think thats about all from me anyway! Hope everyones ok xx

  • Just remembered there was something else I wanted to say!
Sky sent us a movies offer for £8 a month for 6 months, so ive taken it out over Christmas! Why the hell not!! xx

  • Hi mummy, that's good news on the sky offer. I really struggled to get anything out of them when I called them a few weeks ago.

Glad you both enjoyed your night away, have a good week. xx

  • Evening Diary,

Just popping in for a quick catch up! Today the house was cleaned etc this morning, then weve been at a Christening all afternoon.
Just watching Alvin and the Chipmunks with the kids!
We had so much food at the party that weve made the fahitas for tomorrow instead (they are the saucy ones!). Might aswell have an extra tea banked!!

Hi Alice, re the sky offer this was one they sent me through the post. We only pay £22 a month, we dont have all the extras. So this is now £30 a month for 6 months which isnt bad as DH alone would definately get the use out of the movies, even watching ones hes seen before !

Cant believe its little over a week until Christmas! Ive ordered my shopping to come on Saturday, the turkey is already in the freezer.
I will need a few things once I get paid on Tuesday so I think I will just pop to Mr Al's in a bid to keep costs down.

Ive finally written a few cards so will post those tomorrow.

Think thats all from me, this weekend has gone way too fast for my liking! Just 3 full days to work and then shorter days Thursday and Friday and then im off for a week and a half... cannot wait!!!

    Anyway catch up soon xx

  • Hello Diary,

I am back! I have been lurking around for an hour and realising that I have become really slack and I need reigning back in haha!!!
It all started when I started full time in September, then we were moving office and things were really hectic so I stopped filling in my spending diary etc.
Well from 1st January this must restart again. Ive had 4 months off buying whatever (not on CC's or overdraft) but still it needs to stop.
Work is much less hectic now and I would have time to fill this in etc.
I also havent really been near a supermarket to do a shop since being full time. I would also like to try get back into this too as im sure dealing in cash makes you think more.

So thats my pledge for 2013! Also we have a new plan from the end of January! We should have been saving this £210 that was the old loan money, and we save it, spend it etc! We are now going to have this £210 for "spending savings" as DH calls it!
We will save DH's payrise which is around £330.

We really need to stick to this now. We have got too relaxed with this and tbh we will end up not paying hardly owt off by the end of 2013!!

    Heres to 2013! xx

  • Morning Diary,

Well why is that as soon as everythings going right and you have some spare money things start going wrong?! Yesterday when I was in the shower is suddenly went cold but I just thought oh weve used all the hot water (we have a massive water tank upstairs). Thought nothing more about it until DH got up this morning and said he thought the water wasnt getting hot. For some reason the boiler isnt firing up when the water timer kicks in, however the heating is working fine! Luckily we have an emersion switch in the cupboard incase the gas goes off but I have heard theyre cost loads to run.
Not worrying it about it just yet, DH is going to try and get in touch with his mate today... fingers crossed its something simple!!!
DD1 was so funny she said mum buts its nearly Christmas and weve no hot water :rotfl:!! I had to boil the kettle to get them washed :), me and DH had a cold wash bbrrrr hahaha!!!

Nothing else to report! Hope everyones ok xx

  • Hi mummy, how lovely to have a 'short' week leading up to Christmas, I don't finish until Christmas Eve :(.

Hope you manage to get the hot water sorted and it's just something easy and simple to fix, bl00dy typical eh!!

Good luck with your pledges for 2013. I'd go back to the spending diary if you can......it certainly helps me keep my spending in check. You've come such a long way in a short space of time. :)

  • Morning Diary,

    Payday :j!!

Right I am starting afresh this month. I have been to the cash point this morning and drawn out my shopping budget (less the amount needed for Saturday's delivery) and put it in envelopes for the different weeks!
I have filled up my car but have £40 left so will draw this out and do the same. I will do the same with my personal 'spending money'.
This is me getting back organised and I will start my spending diary from 1st January which should be NSD1 :D.

So at lunch time I am going to pop out to Mr Al's and get some things to put us on until Saturday. Then theres the farmshop, will probably be around £40 including some dog food.

Hi Alice, will you get to finish early on Monday?
Re the water its some valve or something which has gone which are £50. DH's friend is coming back on Friday to fix it so for now we are using the emersion heater ! Must do the meeting readings so I can keep an eye on the situation.

Think thats all from me! Hope everyones ok xx

  • Afternoon Diary,

So I went off to Mr Al's at lunch time and it was absolutely packed! I have never seen it like that before perhaps people have now discovered it round here?!
I spent £35 but I got absolutely loads. I had checked out some of the prices at Mr T's online before I left and found them cheaper in Mr Al's so got them cheaper. I also got 2 free range chickens for £4.99 each!!!!
That now leaves me £25 for the farmshop, which is £10 on dog food and the rest on mince, sausage and beef which is do-able.

I also forgot to tell you that after a narky discussion with DH about me spending out of the joint account for top up shops, he has now agreed that we need more shopping budget so this has been upped to £300 now. I have done it for £200 in the past, but it was difficult week in week out scouting round for the best bargains and tbh I am totally not in the mood for that at the moment!

    Hope everyones ok xx
