  • Awwww Gemma what a lovely post, thank you for popping in :D.

It feels so good when you start to take control and those balances do start to decrease. Make sure you do set aside some money to at least have a few treats. This was the mistake we made back in December/January and we were all so miserable.

Things have changed so much in this past year and this diary is the best thing I have ever done. So much support out there :T.

Have you started a diary? I just use mine to keep me on track daily and it does work xx

  • Hi again!

No I've not started one yet! Am not really sure how to, I don't even know how to find your diary quickly, I just sort of came across it.

I am actually feeling rather motivated about all of this, just realised that I was popping into tesco 2-3 times a week and spending £25-£30 then on Sundays going for the big £70 shop, which is rather silly when there is only 4 of us in the house and 1 of them is 6 and the other is 8 months.

I've stopped taking the car places I can walk too (little miss isn't happy at all about this cut-back)

I may need some mse navigation pointers xx

  • Ok so to subscribe to my diary and any others you want to find easily if you scroll to the top of the page where my first entry for this page is. Theres a little bit that says thread tools. Click on that and then click on the subscribe bit. Threads you have then subscribed to have a little icon next to them. You can only see these icons when you are signed in though.

If you want to start a diary on the top left hand side on the forum page there is a button called new thread. Click on that and it should be quite self explanatory.

Hope this helps and I havent confused you!!!

Re the grocery shop I used to spend £470 a month . That was me, DH, DD aged 2 and DD a baby. Ive managed to cut this down and now they are 4 and 2 and we eat really well. Are you buying branded products? If so drop and brand and see how you go on, you can save soooo much this way.
Also meal planning saves lots of waste.

  • Thank you sooooo much, I do buy brands for some stuff especially biscuits, cereal, yoghurts, nappies, cat food, crisps.

Going to drop a brand to see how that turns out!

Wish the little man would go for his snooze so I can be getting this started.

I done well with his clothes the other day! He's only 8 months but bless him a bit of a bear so he needed some new tops as his wee belly gets in the way and his tops end up at his chin, went to asda and got loads of cute wee polo shirts and jumpers in the sale! He got 6 tops and a hoodie for £20!!!

Going to try and start my own diary now while am all geared up xxxx

    Again thank you xx

  • Aw Mummy, you have certainly have had a good shop. It feels so good to actually have the money to spend doesn't it? I think it makes you appreciate things more too, I used to just buy clothes for myself and DD like there was no tomorrow and then we would never wear them....hence why I have a lot of clothes to put on ebay.

Gemma, the one thing that has really helped me is having a budget for everything, I worked out how much I spent a month on things like food, petrol, essential cosmetics, birthdays, entertainment, car, DD and divided it by 12. I then put that away everymonth and buy what I need, last month I hardly touched what was left over and I even have a holiday fund which I haven't ever had before. Hope this helps too.

Have a great BBQ Mummy xx

  • It certainly does make you appreciate it more Livvy. For the past few years ive had all good intentions of spending birthday money on myself and then due to one reason or another its ended up paying a bill or something. Now weve got things under control it feels good to be able to spend it on me!

Gemma if your still reading! I could have kicked myself after debranding - why didnt I do it sooner!! Everything you try may not be to your liking but its worth a try. I do look at brands aswell as sometimes they have better offers than own brands.
Ive found that a lot of things taste exactly the same! Take pasta bake sauce, the own brand tastes just like homepride but about 50p cheaper!! xx

    Hi Mummy

Glad you've bought some lovely things with your birthday money, its always nice to have a treat.
I might go and take a look at the Max Factor offer as I could do with some new foundation.

Well done on the barclaycard offer as well, we transferred a big chunk to them and just not paying interest was fab.

Hope the weathers decent for your bbq later xx
  • Hi Choo,

They did have some foundation on the offer too. Its was only certain things, they had a little booth up with all the offers in in our boots.

Not sure whats happening with the BBQ now the weather has turned..

    xx
