:rotfl::rotfl:Not a bad idea.:T
Get some flares and a kipper tie too and pretend its the 1980's.;)
Very good, out of those latest ideas I'll look into the Honda Accord, I do appreciate none of the cars ticks all the boxes, but I would rather compromise on age or mileage and get a decent level of comfort/toys.
A friend has a V5 V70, looks nice enough, halls loads and gives super MPG or motorway runs, is well over 100K and has not gave him any bother.
Thanks for the thoughts so far.:beer:0 -

Any advice on which engine I should look out for, I don't want the weedy 1.6 petrol, are the 1.8 and 2.0 diesel's ok.0 -
Audi or VW personally
Only thing you gotta be aware of on those are the flaming limp mode problems
Other than that they are sound, my Passat has 160k miles on the clock with no signs of failure (still using original battery too)

My current Mondeo is 2.0 TDCI engine and it drives with excellant performance i was amazed how quick it was for a diesel when i first brought it as i previously has an 806 which was diesel and a real plodder so this was pleasent surprise

My other Mondeo was 1.8 and that was a good engine but older car so my present one is the better of the two.

One thing I don't want, I'm sick of Turbo diesel issues with modern cars, whatever I buy, reliability is the no 1 yardstick, I find that when checking the honestjohn website, there are few diesels that seem trouble free from injector problems, I'm not wanting a bag of nails that will cost half the purchase price to repair.
The ford 2.0 sounds good, and I've not seen any reported problems with the engine.0 -

It's pick and mix with any car you get to be honest. Some cars have issues with engine management, brakes. VAGs are common with limp mode (this is more common in the old versions however) not the pump deuse ones
If you want a car that is reliable get a Jap. Hondas are THE most reliable, I had a Nissan Primera and the engine was bullet proof.
It had 210k on the clock before I got rid of it and never faltered once.Owner of andrewhope.co.uk, hate cars and love them
