£8K car Volvo, Audi, Mondeo, Vectra ?

I'm looking for a decent second hand car that will double as a practical family shifter, as well as a nice car for my drive to work, I'm looking for something with a bit more luxury than the basic cars I've had in the past, any thoughts on my shortlist so far.

Vectra estate CDTI SRI Diesel "58 2008 25000 miles £7500
Mondeo Edge hatch "new shape) diesel "57 2008 43000 miles £7800
Volvo V70 D5 Diesel "56 2006 80000 miles £8200
Audi A4 S Line Diesel "56 2006 76000 miles £8100
VW Passat 2006 "56 1.9 TDI SE Estate 60000 miles, £8000 (added)

I like the new shape Mondeo and it has good reviews, the Vectra's are good value and both the Audi and Volvo have some prestige and top end luxury like leather interiors, although mostly all high mileage at this price.

Any thoughs or other ideas of cars around this price I should also look at ?

Cheers

The Vectra will depreciate the most and at that price its too expensive. The Mondeo is a very good drive, I used to have one and its very practical and spacious, enormous boot and plenty of leg room - im 6'3.

Other will advise on the rest.

Thanks for the reply, I would have thought that the Vectar would have lost most in depreciation up to now, and as it's the sri spec it comes with a bit of luxury, I've never driven the new Mondeo, but it is a looker and the road tests are very good, the boot is vast as well, so I nedent go for the estate version, I will now add another to the list.

    VW Passat 2006 "56 1.9 TDI SE Estate 60000 miles, £8000 ?

Another quality marque, although not without it's detractors as well, due to some poorer that VW standard finishes.

Do not buy a Vectra, you will only regret it.

  • Volkswagon is not a "quality marque".

The only car I'd go for on that list is the Volvo.

Get a Kia Magentis or Hyundai Sonata - within price range and still under warranty!
Happiness is buying an item and then not checking its price after a month to discover it was reduced further.

Good choice;), I wouldn't be looking at a lot of the cars in the OP's list, they are mainly too high mileage for the money.
