Oh, and the vegetarian pates in tubes that H&B and similar health food shops sell work very well on crackers of various sorts, and don't seem to mind being out of the fridge all weekend apart from a slight tendency to go runny - take a tube, some baby toms, oatcakes and a sharp knife, and you have a lunch other festival goers will look at with envy - it even had vitamins!0

Most fruit and veg will survive a couple of days out of the fridge. If you are having issues with the heat, wrap your food up in tissue paper, soak it with water and leave it in the shade - it will be fine
You can try alternative grains like cous-cous or quinoa, with dried veg rehydrate by leaving it in water. You can cook things like this in a thermos flask (add pasta, add hot water, seal flask, leave for hours), so you don't have to drain your gas.
Dried fruit, nuts and trail mix are good to have on hand. Small cartons of UHT milk. I also always take eggs too (I don't store them in the fridge at home either!) but may not be a good plan if you have to carry them a long way. You can cook eggs in cling film or a plastic bag in boiling water which won't make a mess of your pan. Crackers, oatcakes or breadsticks. And cookies or cereal bars
Little packets of salt, pepper, sugar & sauces from cafes are useful and save you carrying tubs of things - can make a real difference too. Instant hot chocolate sachets, coffee sachets and tea bags are also worth taking
Have fun! cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0 -

one my kids love and is so easy is Chinese noodles for stir fry's etc i use the dry packs but you get ready to use and a tin of meatballs. i boil water add noodles bring back to the boil cover then sit at side open tin of meatball and heat (kids love chicken in tomato sauce i like the ravioli) when the meatballs are heated the noodles should be ready drain well and add to meatballs stir well to mix sauce and walla meal done.
Also tried doing it with tins of chicken in white sauce etc the results depend on what tinned foods you like and the noodles.

When 1st DH and I used to go camping when we were young and only had one burner I could do a full english breakfast on the burner!
Now you can get it in a can it would be easier. lol
You can cook bacon and sausages on one ring and have bacon and/or sausage sandwiches for the first morning for breakfast. After that you will be on tinned stuff and packets but a nice first morning.
Have great fun.

Hi Guys :j
I am going to a festival in France next week where I will be camping. We leave the early hours of Thursday morning and will be returning on the Monday.
Basically, we are not allowed to take a camping stove with us
So, I am looking for ideas as to what to take. I am aware that I will have to purchase some food when I am there but would like to be as economical as possible!!
So far I have some snack type things - cereal bars, little pots of fruit etc, but I am more looking for ideas on main meals, bearing in mind we have to carry this, cannot cook anything and (hopefully) it will be very hot!!
So I'm not asking much!!!
Any ideas would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks guys - enjoy your Wednesday!!!!0 -
