Well, we're going to be at a festival so won't be visiting restaurants unfortunately!!0

tortillas to use as bread, dried fruit for snacks, dried pepperoni/salami that don't need to be in a fridge - go to a specialty store for those, (may not seem cheap, but cheaper than buying in France). a box of ryvita can be easliy carried as they are light. Not doing very well here! LOL
I don't know what you want to spend - you can get packets of tuna with mayo, but they aren't particularly cheap.... a good cheese will last a few days out of the fridge - but France has fab cheese! so I'd buy it there TBH.
Hope that helps...0 -
I'd buy local produce while there. Bread, cheese, cured meats, fruit and salad.
I was going to suggest teabags, but if you can't take a stove, you won't be able to make tea.0 -
Hi Guys :j
I am going to a festival in France next week where I will be camping. We leave the early hours of Thursday morning and will be returning on the Monday.
Basically, we are not allowed to take a camping stove with us
So, I am looking for ideas as to what to take. I am aware that I will have to purchase some food when I am there but would like to be as economical as possible!!
So far I have some snack type things - cereal bars, little pots of fruit etc, but I am more looking for ideas on main meals, bearing in mind we have to carry this, cannot cook anything and (hopefully) it will be very hot!!
So I'm not asking much!!!
Any ideas would be much appreciated!!!
Thanks guys - enjoy your Wednesday!!!!
Is it Hellfest by any chance? If so I'm going too0 -
Cheese, potato and onion pasties are what I take on long journeys, camping trips.

Get a baguette some cheese and 90cent canard et porto pate from Carrefour

Ooh, just had a look at the line up. Would have loved to see the Nephilim. And blimey, didn't realise Discharge were still going. Saw them about 30 years ago. They must be old men by now! :rotfl:0

I always take lots of pitta bread and jars of peanut butter and jam as they don't get too affected by heat or by being sat on! The sachets of tuna are good as they have them in Home Bargains and other cheapo shops. Last time I went there was a little bakery nearby that did amazing bread but I noticed that France is generallly more expensive for all groceries.
We are driving over this year as the coach nearly killed me last time, I'm getting on a bit now ha ha. At least we can take a bit more tinned stuff like rice pudding and ravioli and plug the kettle in the car as we have a DC inverter so noodles will be on the menu alot!0 -
You mentioned you couldn't take a camping stove - is that because of the gas, or because no cooking is allowed on site full stop?0

Just looked on the festival FAQ and found:
Can I use a stove or a barbecue grill?
No, you can’t: the use of anything related to fire and inflammable liquids is not allowed.0
