Ooh, just had a look at the line up. Would have loved to see the Nephilim. And blimey, didn't realise Discharge were still going. Saw them about 30 years ago. They must be old men by now! :rotfl:
30 years ago, I guess they are definitely getting on!! I am looking forward to loads of bands, going to be a busy few days!!!I always take lots of pitta bread and jars of peanut butter and jam as they don't get too affected by heat or by being sat on! The sachets of tuna are good as they have them in Home Bargains and other cheapo shops. Last time I went there was a little bakery nearby that did amazing bread but I noticed that France is generallly more expensive for all groceries.
We are driving over this year as the coach nearly killed me last time, I'm getting on a bit now ha ha. At least we can take a bit more tinned stuff like rice pudding and ravioli and plug the kettle in the car as we have a DC inverter so noodles will be on the menu alot!
Pitta bread is a brilliant idea - I was worried about squishing things! Going to do some cheap shops this weekend and hopefully get some bargains!! We're also driving, don't think I could cope with a coach either :rotfl:Just looked on the festival FAQ and found:
Can I use a stove or a barbecue grill?
No, you can’t: the use of anything related to fire and inflammable liquids is not allowed.0 -
You jammy, jammy flipping gits!
I have friends who are going to Hellfest as well and I'm heartbroken that I can't afford to go with them. PLEASE, PLEASE ensure that you see Solace who are flying over from New Jersey just to appear at the fest. They are outstanding! (And also chums of mine).
When I went to Roadburn I took a whole tupperware box full of nut-roasts with various veggies added with me as I figured they would take longer to spoil than most other things might. Pittas and peanut butter, nuts, dried fruit sound like a great idea. Muesli could be quite filling if you can get your hands on some fresh milk or even make some up out of powdered stuff.
If in doubt, drink plenty of beer!0 -
Basically, we are not allowed to take a camping stove with us
Take a look at this older thread on festival food with no stove :T I'll merge this later to keep ideas together.
Enjoy the festival - I could manage cold food, but not the lack of my morning cup of tea for a week :rudolf: Sheep, pigs, hens and bees on our Teesdale smallholding :rudolf:0 -

Ha!!! I was actually asking Bitter and Twisted!!! However I thought I recognised your name - coincidence!!
No, it isn't Chest - I was asking as he knows Solace as well as Bitter and Twisted!
I also post on SWM so know exactly what you're talking about!0 -
ha ha thats OK then, I felt like a right tit after I vaulted to that assumption!0

Be aware that there might still be restrictions on exporting/importing food between the UK and France, which might affect you. Carrying a packet of sausages (for example) would be exporting meat from the UK and importing meat into France.
I have no idea what the current situation is for any foods, I just remembered that there can be problems (your food might all be confiscated if you've got it wrong).0 -
Don't feel like a tit!!! Very strange coincidence.
And thank you for all your tips0
